Richard Garriott has long been a pioneer in the online gaming industry, but now he wants to enlist the aid of his fans to help save humanity. In the Ten Ton Hammer Operation Immortality Contest, Tabula Rasa players can compete for one of five chances to preserve their digitized DNA on the space station when Lord British himself becomes the sixth civilian to reach outer space on October 12, 2008.

Operation Immortality (https://www.operationimmortality.com/) is a real life project designed to digitally immortalize the DNA of a few lucky gamers in outer space. Calling it "humanity's saved game," the project aims to leave an everlasting mark, a record of humankind's existence. You could be part of that lineage.

The process is simple.

1. Be a Tabula Rasa player. If you aren't , download the free trial available during Operation Immortality. Tabula Rasa is a science fiction massively-multiplayer game, and with a free trial, what have you got to lose? Better yet, buy the game for only $19.99!

2. Enter the Ten Ton Hammer Operation Immortality contest by submitting a screen shot of your Tabula Rasa character doing his or her part to save humanity. The screen shot will not be judged in any way. So long as it is of your Tabula Rasa character, it is a valid entry.

3. If you win, you will receive a DNA kit. Follow the instructions and mail the kit to the processing lab. Your DNA will be digitally encoded and transported by Richard Garriott when he travels to the Russian space station on October 12, 2008.

4. Sit back and enjoy the knowledge that your legacy is eternal.

Anyone with a valid Ten Ton Hammer account who plays Tabula Rasa is eligible to enter this contest. Enter between August 12 and August 18, 2008 by posting a screen shot of your Tabula Rasa character at the link at the bottom of this page. You only need to enter once.
