Aion's server merger will take place later this week, but issues with certain names will be handled in two ways. Last week, NCsoft announced plans to handle character names using server extensions and providing players with a redeemable name ticket that can be used on a first come, first served basis. However, the second naming issue comes into play with Legions and before the merge some Legions may find that their names have been changed with an added server abbreviation to avoid a naming conflict. If this happens to your Legion, the Legion’s Brigade General will receive a free Legion Name Change Ticket much like the character name change tickets that can be used once the merger is complete.

Before the merge, we will manually identify Legions that may run into a naming conflict with another Legion during the server merge. After identifying all Legions in conflict, our customer service team will be applying a set of criteria to determine which Legions will maintain their names without any change and which Legions will have an identifying server abbreviation appended to them. These name changes will be taking place before the merge.

Additional details can be found in the Server Merger FAQ.
