CCP is making a few changes to PLEX (Pilot's License Extension) in EVE Online. PLEX is a 30 day extension of game time that can currently be redeemed at NPC stations and can't be carried around as cargo. However, with the coming changes announced by CCP, players will be able to carry their PLEX out of stations in their cargo hold and the redeeming restriction to NPC stations will be lifted. But there's also another catch for this little change. If a player is blown up their PLEX can be dropped as loot or even destroyed in the explosion.

If you blow up a ship that happens to be carrying PLEX, it may drop the PLEX as loot or it may be destroyed in the conflagration (much like any other item in a ship's cargo hold). The refund policies for PLEX will not be any different from any other item.

This change is scheduled to go live with the next update to EVE Online on July 13th, 2010.
