EVE Online players will soon have a new dimension to their immersion in New Eden. In the latest EVE developer blog, CCP Chiliad details the coming of the Captain's Quarters, which will add a new 3D space for players to actually move around with their new avatars, expanding EVE beyond the simple spaceship experience and into the more social setting of a physical avatar. Captain's Quarters will be private single player environments in which players will be able to do a number of things ranging from slouching on a sofa to changing their appearance in a mirror and even bringing up Planetary interaction options.

Captain's Quarters are your place of power, center of your control, operational nucleus, living room and home office. They are the dusty motel room for the vagabond capsuleer. Whether docking your ship to a station or entering EVE for the first time through the character creation, you will enter the Captain's Quarters as the living, breathing EVE You. It's a new dimension of immersion. For all players ( the future newbies/future points on your killboard), it finally gives EVE a human face, a sense of familiarity to "real life" and other games.

The first stage of the Captain's Quarter feature should arrive on Singularity some time before EVE Fanfest. Check out the full dev blog for more details.
