This month GTA 5 was down again for PS4 users

On the 11th of this month online gamers found themselves unable to access GTA 5. Those attempting to access the game on PS4 were unable to join the action for over 12 hours. Rockstar later confirmed the suspected outage.

“We have received reports of issues connecting to GTA Online and are currently investigating. Apologies for any inconvenience," Rockstar said in an official statement. Via Twitter, Rockstar got in touch with fans (or rather, responded when furious fans got in touch with them) to let them know that they were aware of the inability for PS4 users to access GTA Online, and that they were investigation further.

Adding yet more woe, it was further reported that many people were having problems in logging into their PS4 in general, around the same time. A dark day for PlayStation indeed.

A Recurring Problem

This is not the first time that GTA Online has suddenly gone down. However, usually in those instances, the causes of these were major game updates. Were updates being rolled out on the 11th? The only possible source from this department were the hacking abilities recently added.

There have been recent reports suggesting that the new DLC content will be released to comfort lonely hearts on February 14th. Amongst other features, it is rumored that it will be available in two separate drops and offer new weapons, adversary modes, and vehicles that can be taken to Benny’s Original Motor Works.

As strong web hosting options such as these are important for websites to stay online and without delay, so too should gaming companies make sure their servers are at a pace that can handle the pressure. Gamers don’t forgive or forget easily when their favorite online games aren’t available! However, there are no reports of problems for fans connecting with GTA Online on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 or PC. One can only wait to see what will happen on Valentine’s Day.
