This Heroes of the Storm Tier List is designed to rank Heroes in terms of their strength in the current meta. Although some Heroes are considered niche or balanced, those that aren't Tier S or A+ shouldn't be considered poor. While any match can be won with any Hero, this list is designed to present you with the strongest. 12 December 2017

Tier List Descriptors

Tier S+ - These Heroes are undeniably too strong and can be placed in any composition and succeed.

Tier S - Heroes which are often first pick, first ban material and are considered top tier.

Tier A+ - Above the point balance, these Heroes comprise most team compositions and should see only minor changes.

Tier A - The focal point of balance, these Heroes should see few if any changes.

Tier B+ - These Heroes are generally considered good, but require a highly skilled individual to get the most out of them and aren't viable in all situations.

Tier B - Team compositions generally need to be built around a Hero in this pool to make them viable. They are rarely, if ever, seen in competitive play.

Tier C - Very low pick rate Heroes and not considered viable.

Tier List Movement ↓ ↑

"The balance changes to Support Heroes were designed to reduce the potency of double support compositions. As such, there's little changes when it comes to some Heroes simply because their kits - as a solo Support - remain inherantly strong. Heroes such as Uther and Rehgar remain top picks due to their burst healing"

↓ Moved Zul'jin to A+ Tier. The recent nerfs to his kit have hit his win-rates fairly hard. While still strong, not quite on Valla's level.

↓ Moved Tyrande to A Tier. Changes to all other Support Heroes have helped her overall output, but with most compositions drifting towards a single Support

↓ Moved Varian to A Tier. He's strong against inexperienced players, but you're much better bringing a second Warrior who has value before level 10.

Dehaka [Guide] Warrior Hard Global presence, an invaluable stun, self sustain and a fantastic Heroic.  StarCraft Garrosh [Guide] Warrior Medium He requires good skill to play well, but in the right hands he can excel (also works well as a duo). Warcraft Greymane [Guide] Assassin Hard Amazing burst potential, but requires a strong composition to form around him. Warcraft Rehgar [Guide] Support Medium Strong healing, utility and mobility with a strong slow. Two very powerful Heroics. Warcraft Sonya [Guide] Warrior Medium Recent improvements to her healing from Whirling Blade have helped her enormously. A good, solid bruiser. Diablo Tassadar [Guide] Support Hard Unrivalled shielding and utility while offering vision and zoning potential through Force Wall. Not always a strong solo support. StarCraft Uther [Guide] Support Hard Fantastic burst healing, a solid talent rework and his stun remains invaluable. Warcraft Valla [Guide] Assassin Easy

High basic attack damage, two strong Heroic abilities and an "escape" make her a safe and valuable pick

Alexstrasza [Guide] Support Hard High healing output with a strong DOT. A very powerful Trait. Warcraft Auriel [Guide] Support Medium Excellent healing, valuable crowd control and unrivalled sustain. Diablo Arthas [Guide] Warrior Hard His crowd control is good, but he lacks mobility. His self-sustain is high and his root so annoying Warcraft Anub'arak [Guide] Warrior Medium Amazing win rates, lots of mobility and crowd control and he slots perfectly into any team. Warcraft Azmodan [Guide] Specialist Easy Capable lane pusher, but he lacks mobility. His health pool make him a damage sponge; best on large Battlegrounds. Diablo Diablo [Guide] Warrior Medium Good crowd control, valuable as a second Warrior and solid zoning potential. Diablo Falstad [Guide] Assassin Hard High damage, mobility and global presence. Mighty Gust can often save his team when things go wrong. Warcraft Genji [Guide] Assassin Hard Amazing if he can snowball, and so good at picking off low health heroes. Overwatch Gul'dan [Guide] Assassin Medium Incredible sustain, fantastic damage and Horrify is a game-changer. Warcraft Jaina [Guide] Assassin Medium Huge burst damage and crowd control thanks to her trait. Amazing wave clear. Warcraft Kael'thas [Guide] Assassin Medium Great AOE pressure, good zoning potential with Phoenix and high damage output. Warcraft Kel'Thuzad [Guide] Assassin Hard Amazing damage, and a global Heroic that's incredibly frustrating. Warcraft Leoric [Guide] Warrior Medium Slow, predictable but strong in the right hands. His constant presence is incredibly frustrating on maps such as Braxis Holdout. Diablo Li-Ming [Guide] Assassin Easy With unrivalled poke damage and snowball potential, she can excel in the right hands. Diablo Lucio [Guide] Support Medium Amazing mobility, reasonable and utility. Struggles to heal through burst damage but compliments many compositions. Overwatch Lunara [Guide] Assassin Hard High single target and DOT damage, mobility, poke and an invaluable slow make Lunara formidable. Warcraft Malthael [Guide] Assassin Hard Incredibly high DOT damage after level 16, he can pressure any team with ease. Diablo Muradin [Guide] Warrior Medium A huge health pool with a strong stun and a guaranteed means of escape. A safe, solid Warrior. Warcraft Stitches [Guide] Warrior Medium A well placed Hook and Gorge still works incredibly well, especially when paired with Uther. Warcraft Stukov [Guide] Support Hard Amazing sustain, lots of utility, a fantastic set of Heroics and excellent burst healing. StarCraft Zul'jin [Guide] Assassin Medium A very high risk, high reward Hero that is far to overtuned this patch. Warcraft

Abathur [Guide] Specialist Hard Strong lane push, global presence, mines that are a headache and a strong Heroic in "Evolution. Suffers early game on objective based Battlegrounds as team fights are 4 v 5. StarCraft Alarak [Guide] Assassin High A strong kit but a high skill ceiling. In the right hands he can be exceptional. In the wrong hands, a liability. StarCraft Ana [Guide] Support Hard Excellent healing, but struggles to solo Support and easily killed by experienced players. Overwatch Artanis [Guide] Warrior Medium Excellent self shielding and a very useful long-duration Blind Heroic. His Blade Dash > Phase Prism can cause huge problems. StarCraft Brightwing [Guide] Support Hard Global presence, shielding, Polymorph, healing, spell damage reduction - fantastic. Warcraft Chromie [Guide] Mage Medium Good damage but a kit that's unpredictable and somewhat luck based if you're to hit anyone. She's niche and requires excellent aim. Best used on Towers of Doom/Warhead Junction. Warcraft D.Va [Guide] Warrior Medium A nuisance in the right hands and very strong on Braxis Holdout. Overwatch E.T.C [Guide] Warrior Medium Great mobility, valuable disruption, two very strong Heroic abilities and lots of utility. Warcraft Illidan [Guide] Assassin Medium Incredible mobility, high damage and and an ability to dive in and escape make him strong. Unfortunately he's easy to counter-draft against and is challenging to play well. Warcraft Johanna [Guide] Warrior Medium Huge survivability thanks to her trait as well as some powerful crowd control skills.  Diablo Junkrat [Guide] Assassin Hard Solid AOE damage, but lacks reliable burst to finish off players.  Overwatch Kerrigan [Guide] Assassin Medium Not as broken as she was, but still strong due to her hard CC and damage. Can be out-drafted and relies almost entirely on her combo. One miss and she's weak. StarCraft Kharazim [Guide] Support Medium A burst heal, mobility, vision (if needed) and a clutch-heal Heroic. Strong in the right hands, with surprisingly good damage. Diablo Li Li [Guide] Support Easy Her blinds are useful and her damage is surprisingly good. A great second support. Warcraft Lt. Morales [Guide] Support Medium High utility and the best single target healing and shielding in the game make her a strong pick. Unfortunately she's easy to draft against. Best as a last pick. StarCraft Medivh* [Guide] Specialist Hard Amazing utility, totally unique and a strong support Hero. Sadly he's very difficult to use in a PUG environment. *Coordinated teams only. Warcraft Nazeebo [Guide] Specialist Medium Low mobility but a ton of sustain. Capable of pushing well thanks to a large health and mana pool. His Corpse Spiders offer fantastic poke damage. Diablo Malfurion [Guide] Support Medium Ranged poke, a large instant AOE root, strong heals over time and an incredible silence. Warcraft Ragnaros [Guide] Assassin Medium An good kit with flexibility, versatility and most important - damage and poke. Warcraft Rexxar [Guide] Warrior Hard A good stun and slow, and very strong in the right hands. Very difficult to play well but can excel in a double-warrior setup. Warcraft Sylvanas [Guide] Specialist Easy Amazing lane push potential, an amazing silence and consistently good damage. Warcraft The Butcher* [Guide] Assassin Medium Lamb to the Slaughter can guarantee a kill. Drafted properly he can hard carry any team (1000+ damage basic attacks!).  Diablo Thrall [Guide] Assassin Medium High melee damage, poke through Chain Lightning, self-sustain and an valuable Heroic (Sundering). Warcraft Tracer [Guide] Assassin Hard Unrivalled mobility, consistent damage, a powerful Heroic and a nuisance for most Heroes to fight against. Struggles against AA based teams. Overwatch T.L.V* [Guide] Specialist Hard Difficult to play well but great for soaking experience. They remain very map specific. *Coordinated teams only. TLV Tychus [Guide] Assassin Medium A Warrior buster that is focused entirely on bringing down double warrior compositions. StarCraft Tyrael [Guide] Warrior Medium Difficult to play well, mana hungry, but with bags of utility and mobility. Great at engaging and protecting his team. Diablo Tyrande [Guide] Support Hard Her stun is good and her trait useful. At times, a little too reliant on Sentinel damage. Warcraft Varian [Guide] Warrior/Assassin Medium A solid choice regardless of composition and plenty of options when he hits level 10. Warcraft Xul [Guide] Specialist Medium Good lane push, a single-target root and two reasonable Heroic abilities. Best used on small maps where he can rotate lanes quickly. Diablo Zagara [Guide] Specialist Medium Good lane push but relies too much on her trait. Despite that, good split-push potential. StarCraft Zarya [Guide] Warrior Medium Invaluable shielding, solid damage and a good Heroic in Graviton Surge. Overwatch

Cassia [Guide] Assassin Medium Solid poke in Lightning Fury, high mitigation against basics, a powerful blind and excellent Heroic. Diablo Probius [Guide] Specialist Medium He can zone out any team with ease, but he's slow to setup and easily focused. StarCraft Raynor [Guide] Assassin Easy He might be one-dimensional but he hits hard, has an invaluable knockback and works amazingly well against Diablo. StarCraft Sgt. Hammer [Guide] Specialist Medium Strong siege potential and high damage if left unchecked. Her range also makes her a real threat but she can be drafted against easily. StarCraft Valeera [Guide] Assassin Hard Solid burst, good utility and a real menace in the right hands (even after her nerfs). Warcraft Zeratul [Guide] Assassin Hard Eye-watering burst damage and an Heroic that can win games (Void Prison). StarCraft

Chen [Guide] Warrior Medium High health pool, amazing survivability if you pursue the Shield/Brew share build. Warcraft Cho'gall [Guide] Assassin Medium Two Heroes in one, he brings good damage and strong Heroics. Unfortunately he's easy to bring down with the right draft, massively vulnerable to crowd control and ill-suited to large Battlegrounds. Warcraft Gazlowe [Guide] Specialist Medium Good zoning potential with his turrets, but surpassed by Probius Warcraft Murky [Guide] Specialist Medium His rework is solid. Fantastic only on large Battlegrounds where he can happily split push. Warcraft Nova [Guide] Assassin Medium Good burst from her Snipe but that's literally all she has. Best on large Battlegrounds. StarCraft Samuro [Guide] Assassin Medium High burst damage and excellent at clearing camps. About all he's good for. Warcraft
