Mortal Kombat has a rich back story, that new players, like myself, should know before jumping into Mortal Kombat X.  

Mortal Kombat X – The Lore for Newbies.

It can be daunting to jump into a new game, especially a fighting game as a player new to the genre, mechanics and story.   Mortal Kombat, a pop culture icon is no different and in fact may be even more intimidating.

If, like myself, you are planning on jumping into MK X and have no background then these are for you. 

First… read this:  Mortal Kombat Storyline . It’s an excellent piece, that gave me a great insight into why I’m actually fighting in MK X.    I never realized how much story a fighting game could have.   As an ignorant neophyte to this genre I thought it was just show up, punch, kick… win.    How wrong I was.  

OK, I knew it was much more than that, but I didn’t realize how much more.  The Mortal Kombat backstory and lore are incredible. 

If you are more of a video guy, I can’t recommend the following video highly enough.    Nothing that I could write, could explain it better than the video below.   It’s long, but well worth watching before you jump into Mortal Kombat X.
