During the course of the event season last year, Ten Ton Hammer played
host to a variety of developers that were attending the major shows of
the summer. From E3 to PAX, we enjoyed reading the href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/blogs" target="_blank">blogs
of developers from Stargate Worlds, The Agency, and Warhammer Online.

This year, we're at it again. For href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/events/gdc09" target="_blank">GDC
'09,
we've nabbed WAR Creative Director Paul Barnett and all his humor to
jot his thoughts down for us after each day. To start, Paul tells about
about his dread of lectures and how the GDC speaking selection process
works. Make sure you check back with us all this week to read all of
Paul's crazy antics!

Thus
it’s quite a surprise to find myself asked to give a talk at
GDC
2009. And it’s not just a talk, but a lecture. The very idea
fills me
with fear and dread. After all, only crazy teachers at my schools gave
lectures, and most of those sent me to sleep or ended up with someone
(usually me) getting in trouble for talking. Now back in the day, that
meant that a teacher got to throw a board eraser at some young
child’s
head. I have no idea what the modern equivalent is - I mean
don’t
teachers write on digital tablets these days?
