What Makes a Great Vanguard

by Shayalyn

Vanguard is still months from
launch. Most Vanguard community sites are working away to try and bring
fans all the news and information they can. When there’s not a lot of
news to report, many of the community sites grow quiet. After all,
there’s nothing big to talk about, and nothing new to offer. But one
community site puts out new content up to 6 days a week. Can you guess
which one? Hmm? Don’t strain yourself; it’s an easy answer.

Of course, the site that puts out a constant stream of content is
Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer. Our newly launched href="http://vanguard.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&file=index&func=display&ceid=382&meid=160">article
archive should be proof enough of that.

We know that you’ll all want plenty of guides and information, as well
as a solid database, once Vanguard launches. And all those things will
certainly be here. We also think we have a pretty good idea of what
you’re looking for right now while Vanguard is still in beta, and we’re
working hard to provide it. Even so, we thought we’d ask for your
opinion. What are gamers looking for?

All the News...Period

The New York Times has proclaimed to have “all the news that’s fit to
print.” Rolling Stone Magazine tweaked that phrase a bit and offered,
“all the news that fits.” We’re not a print publication, though, we’re
an online community. We don’t have to worry so much about what’s fit to
print (just about all of the news is), nor whether it will fit. We have
virtually unlimited space. You want Vanguard news? We’ve got Vanguard

Stuff that Makes You Think

We like editorials because they’re fun to write. We hope you like
editorials because they make you think. That said, we doubt our
community members want a steady diet of our opinions, so we try to keep
the editorials to a minimum (which is pretty tough for a pre-launch
site that puts out content all week long, I’ll have you know!) Do you
like editorials? Let us know.

The Meat and Potatoes

Any site that offers good guides, interviews, and information is likely
to score big with Vanguard fans. We know that as well as you do, which
is why we’ve put together class introductions (see the left sidebar), target="_blank"
compendiums, href="http://vanguard.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=373">lore
Cliff’s Notes, and href="http://vanguard.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&file=index&func=display&ceid=382&meid=160#Guides">more.
It's difficult to pull these things together for a game that’s still in
beta, but we do it because, ya know...we love you guys.

Home is Where the Community Is

Community helps make a site feel alive. The more people who talk and
share thoughts, news, and ideas...the more vibrant the community will
feel. We think we’ve got a pretty vibrant community right now, and it’s
growing week by week. Add your voice any time in our href="http://vanguard.tentonhammer.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=index">forum.

During the beta phase of Vanguard, we’ve tried to give you a good
balance of all the ingredients that make up an informative and lively
gaming community. Now we want to know what’s most important to you.
Vote in our poll, and then share your thoughts in our forum.

What’s MOST
important to you in a pre-launch Vanguard community?

  • News! Lots and lots of
  • Insightful articles and
    editorials. Make me think!
  • Interviews, guides, and
    plenty of game information.
  • Visual stuff! Bring on
    the exclusive videos and screenshots.
  • Community. Give me
active forums and nice people to talk to.
  • An equal measure of all
of the above would be great.
  • Doesn’t really matter to
me pre-launch. Where’s that beta key giveaway?
