When I first began raiding so many
years ago there were only
two requirements; tanks had to have over a certain amount of health and
healers
needed to have an item called a manastone. Things have
certainly changed since my first
foray into Lord Nagafen’s Lair, and requirements have become a lot more
specific.  As developers seek to find new
ways to keep us on the gear treadmill, and look for ways to make boss
fights
more challenging, secondary statistics take on an ever-growing role.

Rift has
kept their initial set of required
secondary statistics pretty simple by keeping target numbers easy to
understand
and limiting the number of those stats to three.  Each major
role has their own specific stat
to work on reaching, with support roles left to focus on the one that
they spend
most of their time doing

Focus

Focus is the secondary statistic of spell based DPS in style="font-style: italic;">Rift and it affects
your ability to hit bosses with your spells.  This is Spell
Hit in WoW terms.  Below you will find the target number for
each tier of content.

Toughness

Toughness is a tank-centric stat that decreases the amount of bonus
damage a player takes from a critical attack. It is currently the main
mitigation stat needed, although other avoidance stats are present in style="font-style: italic;">Rift.

Hit

Hit is the physical equivalent of Focus and it reduces their chance to
miss with all attacks.  Hit is used for both melee and ranged
weapons, and follows the same guidelines as the other two stats.

As you can see each of these three stats follow the same pattern,
making memorization easy and tracking simple. Check back for new
numbers and stats as more content is released.
