Rift's "Planar War" beta event begins today at 10:00am PST and the devs have thrown down the gauntlet in the beta invitation newsletter. This Saturday from 12:00pm through 2:00pm PST the Trion team will be hosting a "Bring Down the House" stress test event on Rift servers with the goal of seeing just how much they can take before the metaphorical hamsters croak. As an added incentive, players that take part and stay through the entire event will have a chance to win one of 100 in-game prize packs and an Nvidia GTX 460 video card.

We’ve had heaps of players in the RIFT beta, and we’re really proud of how the shards are holding up. We think they can handle pretty much whatever we throw at them... so let’s throw more stuff! We’re hosting a special “Bring Down the House” event this Saturday to see just how much they can handle. The proverbial gauntlet has been thrown down and to make it worth your while, we’ll be giving away 100 In-Game Prize Packs, and an Nvidia GTX 460 video card. All you have to do is play for the duration of the event.

Bring it. We dare you. Because seriously, the riftspawn were saying some pretty rude things about all your moms.

The latest beta event will expand the level cap to 35 and open the new shared zone of Scarwood Reach along with its accompanying dungeon, King's Breach. Additionally, the Whitefall Steppes PvP Warfront will also open. Rift's "Planar War" beta event starts today at 10:00am PST and will conclude on Monday, February 7th at 10:00am PST.
