FPS fans will know developer Bungie from their popular sci-fi FPS Halo games. It's been rumored for some time now that Bungie was working on an MMOG, but little information has managed to leak out about the project.
However, new information seems to have come to light recently. According to Kotaku, a former contractor claiming to have knowledge of Bungie's latest endeavor has stated that the new project is a sci-fi shooter called Destiny.
Bungie's follow-up to the Halo series is a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter, according to a source claiming to have knowledge of the game's development. That sci-fi shooter is currently named Destiny, he says, Bungie's original post-Halo franchise.
Bungie is currently in a 10-year publishing agreement with Activision, who also has the 800lb gorilla known as World of Warcraft (WoW) under its umbrella. According to the source, the project will run on a new Bungie-developed engine and feature "unique online connectivity and matchmaking technology".
Little else is known about the project, but the source in question likened it to WoW in space. What Bungie has in store for players is still a mystery, so stay tuned and we'll update you when we have more.
