Short answer: No, we're not trying to do away with solo players. I'm a solo player myself, as I feel I am far superior at fighting things to people I could group with (that comes off as a joke, but I even refuse to play with people in the office half the time because I like to have complete control of the situation, and grouping doesn't allow that).
