You always wonder exactly how many people are playing your MMOG of choice and just how active it is. Announcing their 2nd quarter 2009 fiscal year earnings EA made mention of a number of facts, the most interesting being that of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning sales and subscriptions. Solidifying their position as one of the most popular MMOG's in the West, they stated the following:

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, an MMO from EA’s Mythic Entertainment studio, sold 1.2 million copies in the quarter – with over 800 thousand current players.

The flip side of good news is always bad news:

EA announced today a cost reduction plan, which will include the elimination of approximately 6% of the Company’s workforce.
