Big things are coming for Champions Online players in October. Not only are some much needed improvements to how missions are shared between group members in the works, but later in the month the Blood Moon event is set to go live on the 27th. To help keep you up to date on all of the superpowered details, we've put together a short preview of what is sure to be an exciting month of updates to the world the Champions call home.

One of the biggest game changing elements set to roll out with the Blood Moon is of course the introduction of the first new power set since launch. Details on the first few Celestial powers have already begun to emerge, being described as a “support-based set [that] allows you to both heal allies and weaken enemies.” What impact the addition of such a heal-centric set will have on the game remains to be seen, but in the meantime new powers are being revealed as a part of the build up to Blood Moon over at the official Champions site.

The life of a super hero is sadly predictable requiring them to plow through thousands of minions just to stop one mastermind. Throwing criminals repeatedly in the air and hitting them with fire, ice and bullets over may sound repetitive but we wouldn't change it for the world. Ten Ton Hammer got a look at Champions Online this last weekend and we bring back tales of the early levels which include the frozen wastes of Canada and a radioactive desert.

Even the vibrant colors of the game can't obscure the destruction of this part of the war torn city. Streets are broken, buildings collapsed, and enemies have overrun almost every inch save a few police barricades. You'll spend the first few missions having the controls explained to you, including how your powers work. After smashing up a few alien eggs you will be ready for a real fight, so the mayor will send you into a ruined City Hall to collect important documents. Subsequent missions will require you to collect a lost passport and suitcase, not to mention assist citizens harassed by groups of dangerous invaders. Enjoy the excitement of saving citizens while it's fresh, you'll be doing a lot more of it in the other areas. Destroying Qularr equipment, dodging glaringly obvious land mines, and even hurling mailboxes into the faces of your foes are just a few other tasks you'll accomplish.

Don't miss what you'll have to face! Be sure to read our Champions Online Zone Preview.

Ten Ton Hammer was fortunate enough this weekend to get a sneak preview of Champions Online and we were dazzled by the dozens of super powers awaiting potential heroes. Like shopping in a candy store we saw everything you can imagine from elemental abilities to simple firearms. With the scrutinizing eye of a seasoned comic book geek RadarX looks at what can you expect this summer when the game finally hits shelves.

Champions has your obvious options for the elements in here including Fire, Ice, and Electricity. Instead of doing things the easy way and making all the powers similar, Cryptic opted to really flesh out each path and added flavor to each. The larger Fire and Electricity attack for example hit multiple targets, while the Ice seems to only affect a single for more damage. Each element will allow players to not only solo effectively, but the also appear to make an amazing support class. With powers like Chain Lightning, Fire Strike, and Ice Blast you can expect this power group to be a player favorite. I also look forward to how many variations of the word "pyro" can be generated by the community for the names of their player characters.
