“Great game-play is a stream of interesting decisions the player must resolve.” – Bruce Shelley
Everyone can use a feel good moment to start the day. Let’s go with this…
After a mere six months, my relatively expensive PC from Dell has packed it in. Power supply failure, so it’s fix-it time. The previous PC that I owned had similar, though more catastrophic issues. On the other hand, I have never had a Mac that hasn’t lasted at least four years. Sure, I have to unplug them to fix them, (see a previous Reloading) but that’s a small price to pay. It’s a crazy world.
Computers it seems are different and yet the same, much like most MMOGs.
Saia recently took a look at the launch of Star Wars The Old Republic (SWEATER) and how she believes it will benefit World of Warcraft. I personally think that the games are apples and oranges, but she makes some great points, especially when it comes to Blizzard perhaps needing that extra bit of desperation when it comes to developing their title. Take a minute and read Why SWTOR Will Be The Best Thing That Ever Happened to WoW. Add your comments to the bottom of the article and I’ll pop in and check it over the next couple of days.
If SWEATER and WoW aren’t your thing then hooboy do I have a game for you.
There isn’t a lot of earth shaking, ground-breaking news in the MMOG industry today, but I’ll leave you with this retrospective on Bungie, the team who developed Halo. Note at the very end, the teasers to their in development MMOFPS.
When it comes to World of Warcraft, Blizzard is not having a good year. They just announced a loss of another 300,000 players in the last quarter and the launch of Star Wars: The Old Republic is getting closer. Does this spell the end of WoW, or a second chance?
Champions Online entered the superhero MMOG fray with both fists swinging. A year and a half later, the game went to free-to-play. Ten Ton Hammer’s Jeffprime heads back to Millennium City to give CO a second look.
The player community has always been the first line of defense against gold sellers, bots, exploiters, and troublemakers. En Masse and Blue Hole will enlist Crisp Thinking to partially automate the battle against their ilk.

We're off to see the developers
The wonderful developers of...awesome games
Meh. We thought we could pull that off in true Judy Garland fashion but it just wasn't working. At any rate, Ten Ton Hammer's intrepid adventurers--Ethec (the Tin Man), Reuben (the Scarecrow) and Ben (the Cowardly Lion)--are off to visit the developers of some of your favorite games at Gamescom and PAX. And they want to take your questions with them.

We have a new leader!
Well... as you all know (if you've been reading Arxkanite's blog... and I know you have...) then we redid our raidscores, because we finally had Cataclysm bosses provided to us via the Armory! It only took 8 months after the release of Cataclysm to get them :D.
Anyways, we have a new leader on the scoreboards, Ataxus with 11317 RaidScore. Holy Cataclysmic Dragon, batman! Ataxus must have raided every single day of his life to get a score that high. I wonder if his flesh has fused with his PC and now he is a super trapper-keeper abomination? I'm not sure, but either way, Congrats for your hard work, Ataxus!
