Where Shall I Play Thee Witcher 3?

Too often great games are released exclusively on one console or are PC only.  This is not the case with The Witcher 3, which will be available on XBox ONE, Playstation 4 and PC.   Which platform will make you the happiest?   Let's take a look at the differences.

  • There won't be platform specific content.   In other words, XBox and PS4 players won't have different DLC or Pre-order content than PC players.
  • The new consoles are much closer to the average PC in terms of horsepower, which means graphics and quality of life should be similar at launch.

So what sets the versions apart?

  • XBox will run at the lowest resolution.
  • PS4 will run at 1080p.
  • A quality PC will run at 1080p on high settings.
  • PC users will have access to mods made by the community.  (This kept Skyrim going long after its normal lifecycle)

If that isn't enough... there is this tweet from CD Projekt Red, the developers.

There you have it, right from the developers themselves, the PC version will be King!  Long live the King!

If you have a choice and you want the best long-term experience then buy for the PC.

If however, you enjoy playing games on a console (as I do with some games like Call of Duty) then perhaps that trumps all.   It's up to you.

Which platform will you be playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on?
