R2 Games today announced that the Early Access and code requirement for the upcoming City of Steam (CoS) beta this week has been dropped. The reason for the change is to expand the testing pool of players to get as many people in as possible this week to help stress the game servers and ensure that any performance issues of bugs can be ironed out prior to launch. Since the key requirements have been dropped, you can simply log in and start playing CoS on May 10th once the beta goes live provided that you have created an account.

The beta update scheduled to launch with the game will also include some new content with jetpacks, the addition of jumping, Wilderness locations, an improved tutorial, and more. Visit the CoS website to learn more and to sign up for the beta.
