  • Quest for glory with our DDO crew!

If you'll be seeking your fame in Stormreach, the majestic setting for Dungeons & Dragons Online, you'll want to keep up with Shayalyn and Ralsu, two knowledgable MMO vets from our DDO community site. They'll share their quest journals in the weeks ahead, revealing informatoin any adventurer will need to make his way in the city.

Ralsu and I emerged on the other side of The Low Road; weary and a little worse for the wear, but in one piece. Still a bit weak from my near-drowning, I found that I had to stop from time to time and catch my breath. Ralsu had been teasing me relentlessly about my apparent lack of swimming skills, and I had been waving my mace at him menacingly while his back was turned, which caused the occasional chuckle from passersby. Bards!

Read Shayalyn's Dungeons and Dragons Online: Stormreach journal... you have her permission!

  • Get in touch with your inner Rogue!

A Rogue is a Rogue is a Rogue.... Ralsu has updated DDO - TenTonHammer's rogue class guide with new information on which abilities, skills, and feats are important to the class. Ready to make your 1st level DDO rogue in Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach? Sneak up on our guide and do it with style.

Rogues are prized for the resourcefulness and seldom are counted on to deliver the bulk of the damage. Instead, adventuring parties will count on rogues to scout ahead, sneak past guards to avoid a confrontation, or pilfer an item needed for the completion of a quest. Players who choose rogues will be rewarded with a feeling of usefulness. Further, they will enjoy the versatility of a character who can fit into most any party composition.

  • You Can Walk the Walk...But Can You Talk the Talk?

When it comes to games, Dungeons & Dragons is arguably one of the more jargon-loaded. It's time to demystify some of those terms...at least the ones that apply to Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO).

“Give me a DC25 UMD check.”

    “Make an opposed grapple check.”

I asked Zed, one of DDO @ Ten Ton Hammer’s resident D&D aficionados, for some examples of D&D jargon. Those were the examples he gave me. My response was a slack-jawed, “Huh?”

I learned that “Give me a DC25 UMD check” is something a dungeon master might say to ask a player to make a Use Magic Device roll versus a Difficulty Class of 25. (I don’t know about you, but I’m still saying, “Huh?”) An “opposed grapple check” is, according to Zed, “A combat option. Essentially a creature/player is attempting to grapple and pin another creature. Opposed checks are made. Each character/creature has a basic grapple score (BAB + Str +Other) and they add that to a d20.”

Yeah, that makes sense. (I think.)

Our handy reference at Ten Ton Hammer's Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach community site will have you talking like a DDO pro!

  • The Dynamic Dwarf

May we present the dwarf, in all his stocky, gruff glory. Ralsu gives us a profile on the mighty mountain-dweller, complete with details about racial traits, bonuses, and penalties in the newest installment on the Ten Ton Hammer Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach site.

Because dwarves can live over 400 years, they pick their battles carefully. This does not mean that they hesitate to do battle; they simply exercise more consideration than comparatively short-lived humans and halflings. Most often, dwarves fight to protect land or possessions, not for causes or ideals. When a dwarf is finally spurred to combat, he displays a tolerance for damage and a high resistance to magic.

Is the dwarf the right race for your Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) character? Read the guide to find out!

  • Gamer has a QNA with Turbine about the soon to be released title Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach.

Don't you think that we're on the verge of entering another MMO games overflow? How many more games do you think that the market can sustain before it implodes?

Not really. The only major subscription MMO released since the since the end of 2004 was City of Villains, and it's not even a fantasy game.

I think some players will always feel that there's a game overflow, but that's just because they're good games out there these days. No one, not even the unemployed college student, can play them all. At the same time, no entertainment industry ever lost its way by providing good choices to the customer. As new games continue to grow the MMO marketplace, it will have room for more games, not fewer.

And folks... You can also read it in Hebrew. It just doesn't get any better than this.
