Following yesterdays report that Australian retailer GAME had entered into administration and pretty much told customers that pre-ordered Diablo III that they would be unable to receive their pre-order copy or a refund, Blizzard Entertainment stepped up with an act of generosity.
In a post to the Diablo III forums, Blizzard announced that they've put a little something into place to help out customers that GAME pretty much screwed over. Affected players that purchased a copy of Diablo III from the retailer before May 15th can now purchase a digital copy of Diablo III from the Blizzard before May 21st and get some reimbursement love. Once you've purchased a digital copy of Diablo III from Blizzard, all you need to do is submit your receipt to them before June 30th, 2012 and youll receive a reimbursement for the amount payed to GAME in the form of credit applied to the payment method used for digital purchases. We're aware that some Australian GAME customers have been left out in the cold on what should be the hottest night of the year -- the launch of Diablo III. To help with this situation and get these players into the game as soon as possible, we've put the following process in place.
Australian GAME customers with a valid preorder/prepurchase receipt dated before May 15, 2012 can do the following:
1. Purchase the digital version of Diablo III from http://www.diablo3.com now or anytime before May 21, 2012.2. Download and start playing when the servers go live!
3. Submit your GAME Australia preorder/prepurchase receipt to us before June 30, 2012.
4. Receive a credit from Blizzard, for the amount you paid in advance to GAME Australia for Diablo III. This credit will be applied to the payment method used for the digital purchase.

Its nice to see Blizzard step up and help out the players that got shafted in this ordeal even when they had no obligation to do so. Good on you Blizzard.
