    The patch notes are up today for version 1.0.1 of the Trinity Client. It's a hefty list of changes and tweaks, so if you play EVE be sure to check it out.

    The Escapist recently published an interesting article called "Riding the Failure Cascade" which examines how a few individuals leaving a volunteer group will often spark a spiraling chain reaction that can destroy even the largest of organizations, with a look at EVE Online as an example.

  • Nothing funny to say here. Having your boot.ini nuked really sucks.

    The latest EVE Online patch is reportedly breaking Windows-based computers by deleting the boot.ini file. For those that don't know, that's the file you need for Windows to start. CCP is currently in heavy damage control mode, and downloading the patch now shouldn't give you any problems, but the customers affected by this probably won't be able to start voicing their opinion of it (or even know what exactly happened) for a few days.

    If you're just shaking for some new Trinity information from the EVE Online people, you're in luck. They just launched their new Trinity Feature Site with a host of tasty infobits for your reading and viewing pleasure.

    EVE Online: Trinity will be coming to your computer this winter, and we don't want to keep all the cool information to ourselves. Plenty of sneak peeks were shown at the Fanfest, now it is time to bring more of the Trinity expansion to light.

  • Who says EVE gamers are heartless?

    CCP partnered with the Child's Play charity to raise funds for disadvantaged kids during this year's FanFest via a silent auction. Prizes auctioned off included a number of signed prints from the game and a lifetime subscription to EVE Online, and the auction proceeds exceeded $7,000 during the three day event attended by over 1,200 gamers.

    Announced during Nathan Richardsson's talk on the upcoming EVE expansion dubbed Trinity and CCP CEO Hilmar Petursson's keynote, the Mac OSX and Linux client for the game will go live next Tuesday. Additionally, EVE's premium voice chat service will soon be free for everyone.

  • CCP Games' EVE Online experienced an unexpected 9-hour downtime yesterday after a security breach was detected in the game's database. Judging from the announcement from COO Hörðdal, thankfully it would look like someone was altering their own character to their benefit rather than trying to harvest other's data from the system.

    CCP Chief Operating Officer Jón Hörðdal has issued the following statement regarding the unexpected interruption of service for EVE Online and its website on Friday, October 19.
