One Foot in Front of the
Other...With Sound!
Our ambulation trailer from GDC 2007 last March is still popular among
many in the EVE Online community (so much so that Sr. Tech Producer
Torfi Olafsson refers to it as the "Ten Ton Hammer trailer"), but at
EVE Online Fan Fest 2007, CCPs audio engineers got in on the act by
augmenting the original trailer with some ambient sound. See (and
hear) it by clicking on the link!

So Much for Learning to
Walk Before You Learn How to Fly
Senior Technical Producer Torfi Olafsson speaks out about why CCP
decided to do ambulation in EVE Online, also describing why combat
between characters won't be part of the concept at launch. EVE Online
players, if you're wondering why you should step out of your pod to
walk among other pilots and NPCs, you won't want to miss Torfi's
explanation of what ambulation will add to your game.

Get Dressed Up for a
Night Out Walking
With CCP employing an economist and architects, it should come as
little surprise that a costume designer was brought in to help clothe
EVE Online players when they step out of their pods in 2008. Learn
about the level of thought going into character and costume design for
EVE Online's upcoming ambulation project, and see how positioning and
moods will play into character interaction once players step out of
their ships and into the stations sometime in 2008.

I'm Walkin', Yes Indeed
Designing non-combat environments for EVE Online's Ambulation project
posed its own set of problems, as level designers found it hard to
break out of the FPS mindset. Learn how CCP is working with with
real-life architects to design to design awe-inspiring yet lore
appropriate spaces for characters and corporations, plus watch as
Senior Technical Producer Torfi Olafsson describes how the Captain's
Quarters concept will change how you play EVE Online.

It's all about the
Playahs, Yo!
Perhaps no other session at EVE Online FanFest 2007 could give you a
better glimpse into the player-driven culture of the game than the
Alliance Panel, where dignitaries from some of EVE Online's most
significant player corporations and alliances presented their
organization's history, lessons learned, and future goals. We're proud
to present the presentations portion of the panel from the 6 corps and
alliances present at the panel in this new series of video clips.

Ambulatin'...EVE Style
These four pieces of Ambulation is just a taste of the ambulation
coverage we have coming from EVE Online Fan Fest 2007 next week,
including an exclusive interview with Torfi Olafsson, CCP's Senior
Technical Producer in charge of the project that will take EVE players
out of their ships and onto stations in third-person view for the first
time. Ambulation is set to come to EVE Online sometime in 2008.

Never Fades...Even in Hot
Water!
While not exactly a new EVE Online trailer, this video (set to gamer
and bestselling electronica artist Junkie XL's "Beauty Never Fades")
ranks with the best we've ever seen, and it's easily the champ among
trailers shunning pre-rendered animation to use actual gameplay footage
only. We liked it so much, we're streaming it at a fullscreen capable
640 pixel wide resolution - our largest ever. It may make our systems
admin cry, but come enjoy "EVE Never Fades" anyway!
