Day two of E3 is complete and we're still alive. Woot! Navigating around the show floor today was like trying to swim through quicksand. It took a lot of effort just to gain short distances of ground because as soon as a hole opened up, it was quickly filled right back in. Trusting me to go off on my own and not get run over by the cascading mobs, Reuben abandoned me to my own devices so we could cover more ground. There was some initial crying, but eventually I took it like a man and went on my way.

Diablo III multiplayer will make for some good console couch fun.

WildStar. was first up on my list of games to check in on. As has become customary over recent years, a number of companies have an off-floor presence, and this year Carbine had one such event they were kind enough to invite me out to. After being blindfolded, thrown into a van, and eventually pushed out onto the ground, I found myself sitting in the hidden recesses of an ancient ruin. Okay, actually I took a taxi and it was a very nice hotel event room, but when the cops come asking where I was this morning, I'm sticking with the blindfold answer.

A number of folks had been invited to a state of the game presentation given by Carbine Executive Producer Jeremy Gaffney. This was my first time seeing the game live, and if there's one thing I can say for certain after walking out of that room it's this - WildStar has more flair, style, character, and humor than any other game I can think of. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together later in the development cycle.

After being shuttled back to the convention center (blindfolded mind you), I decided to brave the madness of the media hospitality center. By the time I arrived there was nothing left, aside from a few vegan meals, but I'm a firm believer that beggars can't be choosers so I ate one. Truth be told, it was actually pretty damned tasty (much to my meat-and-potato-loving surprise). Better than the meal, though, was the chance to chat for a few minutes with Jeff and Dee Dee from TORWars. Catching up with old friends from around the industry is always a nice bonus of working shows.

Castlevania 2 is looking pretty good.

After a delightful meal with even better company, it was time to see what cool things I could find since I promised to do so yesterday. One of the biggest surprises was Thief. Rumors of its demise were greatly exaggerated over the last couple of months. It's being developed now by Eidos Montreal and Square Enix. I watched a presentation of the playable PS4 demo they had on the show floor. More thoughts on that later next week, but as a fanatic of the original Thief by Looking Glass Studios back in the day, I can say that it certainly appears to have everything that made the original such a masterpiece. It's not slated for release until 2014, but I'm looking forward to it.

Still not content with my search efforts, I forced my way through the crowd to get some hands-on playtime with Diablo III on the PS3. I like the PC version better in terms of a single player game, but for multiplayer, nothing in any game will ever beat side-by-side co-op and Diablo III proves no different in this regard. Releasing in September of this year with the ability to play with four players hogging the same couch, it should be a lot of fun.

Finally, I briefly checked out some single player games that looked pretty cool. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 looks impressive and the return of Killer Instinct is nothing short of awesome.

PS - The clans have still not made contact, though there are recent signs of Brujah activity in the area. Team Hammer mobile command center is secure.
