Ten Ton Hammer Network News

  • Yesterday I tossed out a teaser that we would have some exhilarting news to report today. Unfortunately, that news can't be released until Friday evening. My most sincere apologies. I grovel at your virtual feet in embarrassment and humility. What I can tell you is that our resident rodeo clown, Jeff Woleslagle was slotted into the session with FHM (For Him Magazine) and just before Penthouse. I'll leave that lurid picture of Jeff in full rodeo clown costume hunkering down with the Penthouse folks in your mind while I move on to a topic that is equally bizarre, message forums.
Blizzard's Ban Stick, Infidels, Bedbugs and much more are but a click away.

  • All You Need To Know About Naxxramas

We here at WoW – Ten Ton Hammer present an exciting new guide on the latest instance in World of Warcraft, Naxxramas! This dungeon is full of undead creatures waiting to assault the Eastern Kingdoms. These powerful monsters are still holding their own, as currently no guild has fully purged the floating citadel of the Scourge's filth. Currently our guide contains all of the information you need to know about Naxxramas along with a complete guide to the first boss in the Spider Wing, Anub'Rekhan. As we get more information, both first hand and from the community, we will be updating the guide with more tactics on more bosses. So be sure to check back often!

"Getting to Anub'Rekhan is easy for most guilds. Heading into the Spider Wing (the area with spiders, conveniently enough) simply pull spider packs and take them out. There is generally no complicated tactic for them yet, other then "DON'T LET THEM KILL THE RAID". A good tip in this instance would take the pointy end of your sword and stab it into the icky spiders. Those without swords can heal those who have them or cleanse the various poisons that the spiders like to apply to people."

  • Hope for the Lore Challenged

Not everyone has time to scour the existing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes lore. That's why we sent Aunraye on a mission to scoop up some intriguing lore about the continent of Thestra and boil it down to its bare essence. Are you looking for the Cliff's Notes version of Thestran Lore? Here are some random bits of lore goodness for your consumption.

"Rindol Field, home of the Halflings, comes after the northern plains. From there you travel to Bordinar’s Cleft, home of the dwarves. As you approach Bordinar’s Cleft, which is near the peak of Widow’s Veil, you find a Halfling watch tower."

Head over to Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer and learn more about Thestra. Did we miss anything? Let us know in the forums.

  • Build Week Continues

One engrossing thing about Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) is imagining all of the possible ways to build a fun character. That's why we've dedicated an entire week to DDO Builds. Darkgolem starts off with a very special build designed to deal with many of the non-humanoid enemies DDO has to offer. It can be a niche build, but it is still a functional fighter in its own right.

"With immunity to sleep, hold, slow, poison, disease and energy, the Destroyer of Horrors (DoH) is largely immune to the special effects of oozes, aberrations, and giant vermin...Since many of the horrors that plague the dark places of Xen’drick come in numbers, the DoH has many attacks, with Two Weapon Fighting, Cleave and Great Cleave. Stunning Blow is not effective against all of the types of beasts that the DoH fights, but it is against one of the most dangerous foes the destroyer faces: the beholder."

Keep reading to learn more. Do you have something to say about the builds you've seen so far this week? Or maybe you have a favorite build to share! Stop in to the forums at DDO Ten Ton Hammer and let us know.

  • New Site Poll

It’s DDO Build Week here at Ten Ton Hammer. We’ve given you builds for every race and every class in DDO. One race we hear a lot of debate about is warforged. Some people dislike them because they are hard to heal. Other players don’t care. Where do you stand?

Poll: Will you group with warforged?

    * It’s all about the skill of the player. I’ll group with any race, including warforged.
    * If warforged bring their own wands to help heal them, I will group with them.
    * I’ll group with warforged, but I will not heal them.
    * Warforged are more trouble than they’re worth. I will not group with them.

Let your voice be heard! Head over to DDO Ten Ton Hammer and vote!

  • We have two fantastic interviews up on the network with none other than Jeffrey Steefel, Producer of Lord of the Rings Online and Oren Aviv, the President of Walt Disney Studios, who talks about Pirates of the Caribbean. A big round of clap to Jeff Woleslagle, our rodeo clown in training for delivering those two gems. Mr. Woleslagle is in New York City today delving deep into something that many of you are going to love. I just can't tell you about it until tomorrow. I guess you'll just have to come back.
My question about why fishing is a part of MMOGs gots some interesting responses, which if you check the blog regularly you have already perused. For you slackers here are some nifty comments that you should have read.
More fishing, ATMs in churches, five MMOG articles so fresh you'll have to slap them and much more is but a click away.

  • Patch Day Joy or Woe?

There are many of us who love "patch day" around the forums, mainly because it brings forth all the angry posters we can poke at. What do these updates do, besides nerf and add content? Do they make the game better, and why does Kiara squeak when they mention new clothing options?

Very few people will attempt to deny it, but the experienced MMO players realize everything changes. Content and mechanics are as fluid as Jet Li in a fight scene, and what you remember six months ago, bears little resemblance to how things are now. EverQuest 2 in particular has gone through massive changes over the past year, but did these changes really help the game?

Read more and then let us know how you feel about patches at EQ2 Ten Ton Hammer.

  • Ratboy Tries to Tackle the Network Topic Today

Ratboy discusses the direction of Warhammer Online and its chances of surviving as a PvP-centric game in the current industry.

Having been watching the game for almost a year now, it’s kind of interesting that this week for our Common Content articles “the powers that be” want me to discuss the direction that Warhammer Online seems to be taking. Since there have been no patches, no Beta or Alpha releases, or any other sort of physical items given to us aside from screenshots and basic class descriptions, I can’t go into the immense detail that I’m sure the other sites on our network can go into, but that won’t stop me from trying!

Keep reading to see what Ratboy has to say at Warhammer Ten Ton Hammer! Stop by and let Ratboy know what your thoughts about this game are.

  • When What's Missing Becomes What's Next

Talk about patches and expansions--that's the common thread running through this Monday's content across the Ten Ton Hammer network. But since Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is still in development, Shayalyn has opted to talk about what's missing (or likely to be missing) from Vanguard at launch, and what might become the stuff of updates and expansion packs. Will Vanguard's developers, Sigil Games Online, hold a hard line in support of death penalties, corpse runs, group-centered play, and no instant travel? Shayalyn shares her best guesses. Oh, and if you've found a missing Berzerker, please take him to the Customer Service desk.

"How does one travel around Vanguard’s vast world of Telon? Not instantly, that’s for certain. You won’t find druids and wizards 'portin’ for platz.' Nor will you be able to touch a portal stone or click on a ship’s bell to ring up an instant zap to the location of your choice. You won’t even be able to hop a random griffin."

Find out how to travel in Vanguard Saga of Heroes. Share you thoughts with the rest of the Vanguard community in the forums at Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer.

  • How DDO's Patches Aim to Save Customers

As the DDO Ten Ton Hammer team gears of for DDO Build week, we take a look at how Turbine has built DDO to be what it is today. With patches that add to end game content and help ease newbies into the game, it seems Turbine is focused on customer retention. But is everything in perfect order?

"Ten Ton Hammer does not expect me to brown-nose Turbine, so I'm going to tell the truth--even when it's unpleasant. At the same time...I--LIKE--DDO. Read that again before you hit send on that hate mail. In fact, please read all I have to say...then blast me to smithereens!"

How can you not head over to DDO Ten Ton Hammer and read more? Feel the need to blast Ralsu? Step right up and let him know it in the forums!
