SeatStory Cup III

With a $20,000 prize pool, this is one Hearthstone tournament that's sure to keep you on the edge of your seat (obligatory terrible pun...I'm sorry.) The group stage began yesterday, and we've already seen several notable players such as Reynad, StrifeCro and Amaz all knocked out of the action, which only serves to prove that everyone needs to be on top of their game to have a chance at the cash. Groups will continue through Saturday, with the playoffs taking place on Sunday. With names like Savjz, Alesh, Firebat, and Rdu still in contention, things promise to only get more intense from here on out.

Heroes of the Storm

Heroes of the Dorm

Teams from 64 different colleges/universities from across the country will be competing in Blizzard's Heroes of the Dorm tournament, beginning tomorrow, April 11th. The competition features over $450,000 in tuition and other huge prizes, so make no mistake about it, there's a lot on the line for the participating students. There's also plenty to be won for spectators as well. You can fill out your prediction bracket right here, with the top bracket winning $10,000 in cold, hard cash. The top 5 brackets will receive all new gaming systems, and some random participants will win as well. The finals aren't until April 26th, but they will be broadcast on ESPN3, which is pretty cool in it's own right. In the meantime, keep checking back at the official site to see when your bracket is busted.

League of Legends

EU LCS Spring Semifinals

The semifinals of the EU LCS Spring Split kick off with a bang, featuring Fnatic and H2k, two teams that have exceeded expectations. Fnatic's completely revamped roster took the LCS by storm, while H2k struggled for a bit before really finding their footing after the addition of Support player kaSing. This will be a great match to watch in the mid lane, as former H2k member Febiven will face off against Ryu. H2k swept their quarterfinal match against the Copenhagen Wolves, so they certainly have momentum on their side. However, Fnatic looked like one of the best teams in Europe all split long, so they'll certainly have quite a bit of confidence heading into this matchup.

On Sunday, it'll be SK Gaming taking on the Unicorns of Love. Unlike the previous two teams, SK was expected to do well this split after the additions of Fox and FORG1VENGRE, and the team did not disappoint, posting the best record in the league with a commanding 15-3 performance. UoL have quickly become fan favorites, and they looked strong while dispatching Gambit Gaming in the quarterfinals. Whispers of unrest inside the SK organization could cause a bit of concern for fans, as if FORG1VEN really is unhappy, it could potentially affect his performance. The Unicorns are known for keeping their opponents off balance, so we'll have to watch and see if they have what it takes to bring down Europe's #1 team.

NA LCS Spring Semifinals

In North America, Saturday will bring us Cloud9 vs Team Liquid. This is a particularly intriguing matchup, given what we know about these two teams. Cloud9 has gone from the undisputed kings of NA to solidly second place, losing out to TSM both in last year's LCS finals, and in the Spring Split standings for 2015. There have been times this year where they've looked like their old dominant selves, and other times when they've seemed almost lost, suffering from uncharacteristic lapses in judgment. On the other side, Liquid has dealt with their own inconsistencies, most notable the merry-go-round at the AD Carry position. The team has made the decision to stick with former world champ Piglet despite some ups and downs, and it looks like that might finally be paying off. Especially now that Piglet and Xpecial have fixed mouse issues that plagued them all split long, the squad looked to be in top form as they took down Counter Logic Gaming in the quarter finals. This could be the start of Liquid's rise to the top, or it could be C9 reaffirming their status as one of the best in NA. This is a must-watch series.

On Sunday, it will NA's #1 seed Team SoloMid vs the team that has been playing giant-killer, Team Impulse. After seeming to be a middle-of-the-pack team for most of the split, Impulse really turned it on towards the end of the split. They took down TSM in Week 6, defeated Cloud9 and Team Liquid in Week 7, and took a convincing victory over Gravity in the quarter finals. This is a squad that seems to have really found its stride, with the resurgence of Apollo (formerly WizFujiin), the rock in the top lane known as Impact, and the play maker XiaoWeiXiao in the mid lane. However, it might not all be roses for TiP, as they now come face to face with TSM, who themselves may be as strong as they've ever been. Santorin has been an excellent find to take over the jungle, while Bjergsen and WildTurtle are looking like the carries they're expected to be. This is a series that could easily go all five games, and it's going to come down to which side can make the necessary adjustments as the best of 5 plays out.
