  • Daniel Newman and the Vanguard Crafting Team Speak

MMO Craft has posted an interview today that gets more answers about the crafting system planned for the upcoming Vanguard Saga of Heroes.

Daniel and the Vanguard crafting team were kind enough to stop by my office to answer some burning questions I had about the Vanguard crafting system. Ok, so they didn't come all the way to my office the Mid West but they did answer some great questions, all about Crafting, accept the one about where my Beta Key is, I'm assuming it must be “lost in the mail“ :-) /sigh.

  • A Peek At ArchLord

There is a new MMORPG coming out called ArchLord and Ten Ton Hammer has the information you need before the game is released! We've played the ArchLord beta and have compiled tons of information plus our impression of the game. If you ever wanted to have the ultimate power in a game to do whatever you wanted to then ArchLord might just be the game for you.

"ArchLord is your standard Asian fantasy MMORPG that throws in a few new and exciting concepts to mix things up. You've got your standard Warrior, Mage, and Archer arch-types (Shamans, Elementalists, and Berserkers are also available for play). They each have a unique role that allows them to utilize their preferred weapon to slash, pierce, or toast their enemies. You've got some pretty generic races too which are the Humans, Orcs, and Moon Elves. You have a giant sprawling world filled with all kinds of fantasy themed cities (that are very well done) and tons of mean monsters that are hording tons of wonderful loot."

  • Dreamlords Talks with Strategy Informer

Strategy Informer recently had a chance to sit down and talk with Marcus Andrews, a game designer for Dreamlords.

Strategy Informer: Firstly, could you introduce yourself to our readers?

Marcus Andrews: My name is Marcus Andrews and I am one of the Game Designers working on Dreamlords.

Strategy Informer: Where did the idea of creating Dreamlords come about?

Marcus Andrews: I personally wasn’t really involved in the initial idea process. Dreamlords came about when we had an internal week long workshop at Lockpick on what game to produce. We choose Dreamlords before many other interesting concepts mainly because of the originality and the possibility to publish it through digital distribution.

  • The Caravan Interview with Sigil's Vince Napoli

There's been a lot of speculation about modes of travel in Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. We know that travel will play an important role in the game, and that instant travel will be extremely limited. We also know that Vanguard will have a unique caravan system. There's been a good deal of speculation about how the system will work, so we cornered Sigil to get the official word on caravans. Game designer Vince Napoli answered our questions.

[VTTH]: We know that caravans will likely have a level restriction, meaning that the players banded together in a caravan will need to be within a certain level range of one another. What other restrictions will be placed on caravans to prevent exploits?

[VN]: We are testing out a few restrictions based on the feedback from our initial implementation in beta. A level limit is likely by release, as is some type of restriction on where your caravan may be "docked." We are also toying with "unlocking" areas before you may caravan to them.

What are you waiting for? Hurry over and read the rest of the interview! When you're done make sure to stop by the forums at Vanguard Ten Ton Hammer and tell us what you think.

  • Free Play?

RPG Vault has an interview with Acclaim's CEO, Howard Marks.Find out what business model they plan to use to let players have a free and a premium option for 9 Dragons...

Our conclusion is that depending on your playing style and goals, you will decide to buy items or not. The cost in itself is not high, so it is really a playing style decision rather than an economic one.

  • Are You A Trekkie?

FiringSquad has posted an interview with Glen Dahlgren, Design Director for Star Trek Online. What news is there from this game due out this fall? Keep reading to find out...

FiringSquad: First, with Star Trek entering its 40th anniversary this week how does it feel to continue this science fiction franchise in a whole new way?

Glen Dahlgren: It’s incredible. I’ve been a fan from way back, and I’ve found that every era has its own character and something distinct to like about it. What’s wonderful is that, while we’re drawing on elements from all of these series, we’re effectively creating a new series—a new era twenty years beyond the most recent movie. This era will have its own look and feel, and is being constructed in collaboration with some of the best-known Star Trek designers as well as with the wholehearted blessing of CBS. This is a wonderful opportunity for us, and hopefully an exciting opportunity for fans as well.

  • The PR Manager for Spellborn International Talks With MMORPG.com

MMORPG.com has posted an interview with Marco van Haren, PR Manager for Spellborn International.

MMORPG.com: We finally got to see the Daevi after many months; can you tell us a little bit more about them?

Marco van Haren: Daevi are the racial offspring of the Humans and the Mumia. Although they are humanoid, they spot some “demonic” body parts as a proof of their Mumia origin. All Daevi are born with an ancient mythical birth sign used by the Eight Demons to control them. Currently, only the Tempest birth sign remains. Each birth signs bestows a Daevi with specific physical features, with the Tempest birth sign giving them similar horn-like features as the long lost Thorn birth sign. Daevi also live slightly longer than humans because of their immortal heritage.

In the Spellborn world, Daevi will have a different color palette for their body then humans and they can select from different “skins textures.”
