The Elder Scolls Online is an MMORPG adaptation of the popular The Elder Scrolls single player RPG. The game is set 1000 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and is being developed by Zenimax Online Studios. The game will feature most of the continent of Tamriel, including areas from Skyrim and Morrowind that players of the RPG series may be familiar with.

The Elder Scrolls Online will feature a three warring factions: The Ebon Heart consisting of the nords, dunmer and argonians. The Aldmeri Dominion consists of the altmer, bosmer and khajiit. Lastly, The Daggerfall Covenant made up of the bretons, redguard and orcs.

A blocking and stamina mechanic is something that Zenimax is looking to use in combat to eliminate the need for the MMORPG holy trinity. This in combination with the removal of a traditional agro mechanic will force players to work together and use their own skills to better survive combat.

Players can also engage in open-world 3-faction PvP to try and win the lands for their faction. The top PvP player for a faction can even be crowned emperor when the Imperial City is captured.
