Gamers get a lot of bad press in major news outlets, but in reality we’re a rather tight bunch. And when disaster strikes, it’s not uncommon to see just how generous gamers can be. Case in point, gPotato.eu has announced that European players across four of their titles managed to raise over €20,000 for the Irish Red Cross Japan Tsunami Appeal.

The funds were raised through special in-game items created specifically for the event in Rappelz, Flyff, Castle of Heroes and Terra Militaris. gPotato made the items available from March 25th through March 30th and donated 100% of the proceeds to aid in Japan relief efforts. The event was part of the global GALA Group initiative which managed to raise almost €50,000 worldwide.

Check out the official press release after the break. Nice work gPotato players.
