Authun Skandsen surveyed the assembled group of warriors gathered before him. Their eyes were wide with excitement and their hands trembled with anticipation. Their eagerness to slay the humans of the Empire was nearly palpable. Authun smiled and nodded with approval. It was not so long ago that he himself had been an aspirant, hopeful to join the ranks of Tchar'zanek's elite warriors, the Raven Host. Now it was his task to judge the worthiness of others.

"Look upon the village to the south. That is Vistermark, and it is there that you will face your test of worthiness. Now, heed my words - those that do as I command and show neither fear nor remorse might be judged worthy to join the Raven Host. Those of you who fail will carry the shame of that failure the rest of your lives."

The company of warriors nodded their understanding.

"You're to attack by night and slay the village defenders without raising the town alarm" he said. "None must know of our arrival."

We kill'em quiet, then" said the Zeaolt henchman, "Just like at New Emskrank."

Authun darted into the ranks and grabbed the outspoken minion by the throat and threw him to the ground with such force, the fledgling Zealot was left gasping for air, the wind knocked from his lungs.

"I have not finished speaking. you will learn your place." said Authun icily. Laughter broke out amongst the Chaos fighters. Incensed, the Zealot leapt to his feet and drew his blade to avenge the insult.

Authun watched the ensuing melee with interest. The Zealot slew the warrior who'd laughed the loudest, before falling to a barrage of spear jabs and sword strokes. The surviving combatants then basked in the glory of the sacrifice, while Authun gave voice to the rest of his plan.

Chapter 4: Proving Ground

Rally Master: Authun Skandsen

Influence Rewards
:
-Basic: Health, Action Points, Heal over Time or Damage Absorbing Potions
-Advanced: Hand or Feet Armor.
-Elite: Accesory or Weapon.

Fields of Woe:

Location: Beeckerhoven, Nordland.

Stage I: Destroy 10 Weapon Wagons. Just down the hill from Authun's Host, the Chap.4 Chaos camp, lie the crop fields that help supply Salzenmund. The fields are vast, open areas and the peasents are numerous. However, it's not the peasents you'll have to worry about when you find one of the Weapon Wagons to destroy, it's the Militia Guards and the wandering Nordland Recruits. The Guards are standard type melee sword'n'board type mobs who attack the second you launch your first attack against the Wagons. The recruits are wandering standard type mobs who will attack from ranged if they find you. Not too much trouble there. The wagons are all over the place, but normally close to the roads, so you'll have to look all around the fields to get them all.

Stage II: 10 Nordland Seargents. Once you've taken care of destroying the arms that were to be used to enlist more fighters to stand against the Raven Host, and killed several soldiers in the process, it'll attract some attention. Now the Nordland Seargents rush out in an attempt to rally the troops against your band of neer do wells. The Seargents are Champion class fighters who usually travel in groups of two all around the fields. You get a good healer with you and it shouldn't be a problem taking these guys down. Just finding them all is usually the toughest part.

Stage III: Sir Falkirk, 2 Militia Guards. Once you've managed to beat down all the local resistance, all seems lost for the poor farmers and newly recruited soldiers of the Empire... but hark! What sound doest approacheth from the south? Salzenmund has heard about the problems with your little band of Chaos troublemakers and has sent reinforcments! Sir Falkirk and his two Militia Guards approach to deal with the issue. Falkirk is a Hero class mob who hits hard and has a stun attack of sorts he uses infrequently. The Guards are Champion class melee and should be attacked first to lower the overall DPS of the group. Then turn your sights on Falkirk, because this guy has a mega BUTT ton of hit points and you can expect to settle in for a longer than average fight. Unles you have a group of 10 or more, then he goes down like a beer at a frat party with cries of "AHHH! The peril was too perilous!"

Loot Drops: Special items are dependent on the type of loot bag that is won, and your class. Every loot bag contains the tradeskill items and coins.

  • White Loot Bag: Rank 7 Feet armor
  • Thick Glass Vial: Apothecary
  • Withered Guts : Cultivation
  • Crusted Brass Watering Can: Cultivation
  • Dusty Loam : Cultivation
  • Coins

Sacred Ground:

Location: Beeckerhoven, Nordland

Stage I: Kill 60 Wolves of Ulric. In a tranquil forest, just past the fields you just pillaged and killed in, lies an altar to a Middenheim god guarded by majestic and beautiful wolves. Awwww, isn't that sweet? Of course, being Chaos folk, you have to put a stop to that pretty darn quick! Located on your left side as you come out of the Fields of Woe PQ, the Sacred Ground PQ stretches all the way down to the fork in the road. There is no shortage of the Wolves of Ulric in this forest, so there's plenty to kill for everyone.

Stage II: Kill 25 Howling Wolf Clergy. These guys are none too pleased about the destruction and bloodshed your little group has brought to this otherwise peaceful forest and they plan to speak to you about it... with a big, heavy hammer. The Clergy are accompanied by wolves (sort of) and both are standard type mobs, but only the Clergy count towards the kill objective and you'll need to deal with them within a certain time frame. The Clergy can be found wandering all over the forest and each time you kill one, a wolf comes out of nowhere and attacks you. This is on top of the fact that the previous wolf mobs are still hanging around, so you'll inevitably get a few adds.

Stage III: Sir Ralgeir, The Great White Wolf. After showing the clergy the error of their ways and de-fanging the wolves, you can hang out at the shrine and wait for the next contestant on "The Butt Whipping is Right!". The next contestant is a descendant of Ulric and pretty strong in his own right, Chaos say hello to Sir Ralgeir! Of course, excited to be a contestant, Sir Ralgeir rushes your party at the shrine and lays into you. Ralgeir is a Hero class mob and puts out a stupendous amount of DPS, so the group healers need to be on their toes.

Once you defeat Sir Ralgeir, you'll find that he has a suprise in store for you! His death summons the Great White Wolf! No, not Elric of Melnibone. That's another fantasy setting all together. The Great White Wolf is the personification of Ulric, and it's also a Hero class mob. It spawns and attacks the second that Ralgeir goes down so there's no healing time in between fights. Make sure that your healers are going full tilt boogie because the White Wolf also does a ton of damage, plus has a howl attack that lowers your DPS in return.

Loot Drops: Special items are dependent on the type of loot bag that is won, and your class. Every loot bag contains the tradeskill items and coins.

  • Thick Glass Vial: Apothecary
  • Withered Guts : Cultivation
  • Crusted Brass Watering Can: Cultivation
  • Dusty Loam : Cultivation
  • Coins

Salzenmund:

Those Empire Guards are all over the place! Even in the bushes!

Stage I: Collect 50 Supply Crates. Welcome to historic, beautiful Salzenmund! Where the cannons blaze away 24/7 and more guards patrol the streets than you can shake a stick at! There's two ways into Salzenmund. One is through the front door. This leads to some initial battles with guards and priests and such. The second is an old smuggler's tunnel you'll be directed to through some of the quests you can get back at Authun's Host. This consists of a HUGE hole in the ground, in the back part of Salzenmund where the militia has decided to set up camp (apparently, Boston felt the need to move the "Big Dig" to a new location). Once you're in, your job is to snag some of the supply crate from Salzenmund for the Raven Host's useage. To do that, you'll have to battle two standard type guards (one a ranged fighter and one melee) to get to the crates. Unlike other past PQ's, even though you see three crates you won't be getting three updates. Each set of crates only counts as one towards the goal. The supply crates are all over Salzenmund, so you'd better get busy.

Stage II: Captain Heirgen, Broghen Kausel. While the forces of Chaos are pleased with their newfound suplies and how they were free of charge due to a little five finger discounting, the forces of Salzenmund seem a tad bit perturbed. They send out Captain Heirgen and Broghen Kausel to put a stop to all of it. Heirgen is Champion class, tank type mob and is accompanied by two Champion class guards. He's located back by the smuggler's tunnel/ military camp area. Broghen Kausel is a Champion class, warrior priest type mob who is accompanied by two Champion class acolytes. Kausel is located in the middle of the main town square. You have about eight minutes to take them out, so work the extra mobs first, then move on to the main guys. You'll also have to contend with a bunch of standard type mobs who're now trying to stave off a Chaos invasion so they're everywhere now and yes, it's as annoying as it sounds. You'll want to take out Captain Heirgen last, because once you've finished, the next mob will pop on top of you otherwise.

Stage III: Arguise Flamewalker. Once you've managed to kill off the good Captain and the Pious Kausel, you rouse the anger of the local Master Bright Wizard, Arguise Flamewalker. Flamewalker is a Hero type mob, and of course being a Bright Wizard, has the potential to do extremely stupid amount of damage. If he wasn't bad enough, he's accompanied by three Champion Flamewalker Acolytes who, as you may have guessed by the name, are Bright Wizards themselves. It's best in this instance to sic one of your tanks on Flamewalker, put two of your healers on the tank, and let the rest of the group work on taking out the acolytes and then focusing on Flamewalker. DPS abounds in this fight so spam your heals and wards folks.

Loot Drops: Special items are dependent on the type of loot bag that is won, and your class. Every loot bag contains the tradeskill items and coins.

  • Green Loot Bag: Rank 7 Chest Piece
  • White Loot Bag: Rank 7 Accesory
  • Thick Glass Vial: Apothecary
  • Withered Guts : Cultivation
  • Crusted Brass Watering Can: Cultivation
  • Dusty Loam : Cultivation
  • Coins
