Damage output in Destiny's Kings Fall raid is very important, especially during the Oryx fight where you only have a few seconds to stagger him before he claps and wipes your entire fire team. There are a few options when deciding what weapons to bring to the fight, but there are definitely a couple that stand head and shoulders above the rest.

What should you look for when picking a weapon for Oryx? Damage first of all. You’ll want to be doing at least 300 damage to be a good contributor. You can get away with a slightly lower amount than that only if you have good impact.

Second, your weapon should have a good impact rating! There’s a lot of ranged fighting in the Kings Fall raid. Make sure your bullet does damage when it finally gets to its target by packing some high impact.

Range is king. Your range and impact go hand in hand. You’ll want a gun with good range to pick off all of the enemies from the platforms, and to stagger Oryx. Shout Rifles and sniper rifles are a good spot to look.

Having a large clip size or a perk that replenishes ammo is extremely helpful because it allows you to keep the damage flowing without having to stop and reload.

Weapon Suggestions

Of course, there are some weapons that any group would be happy to have on their fire team. They combine all of the attributes above and make the Oryx fight a lot easier if several of your party members has them.

1000 Year Stare – This has been one of the most popular sniper rifles since the Taken King launched and for good reason. Its high impact and range make it perfect for landing those heavy shots on distant targets. If you can get it with an ammo replenishing perk, all the better.

The best part is you can buy this amazing sniper rifle straight up from the Vanguard vendor in the hangar bay for legendary commendations.

Black Spindle

This powerful sniper rifle does great work in the Kings Fall raid. It has a very high impact and range as well as two perks that have a chance of replacing a missed shot to your clip and another if you land three critical strikes in a row. If you’re a dead eye, you’ll be able to dish out the damage extremely quickly.

If you don’t have the Black Spindle in your inventory yet, follow our guide to getting the Black Spindle.

Touch of Malice

The pinnacle of Kings Fall weaponry is the Touch of Malice. If you’ve slaved away collecting calcified fragments and completing the ever so long quest chain they rejoice, you have the best weapon in the game for defeating Oryx and his daughters.

The guns life stealing ammunition and unlimited fire (as long as you don’t die) mesh perfectly with the invincibility auras you pick up in both the Daughters fight and the Oryx fight. If you have this gun you will be welcome in almost any Kings Fall raid party.

Thunderlord

While not as potent as the Touch of Malice, the Thunderlord is a good ace to have up your sleeve should you need to put out some heavy ranged damage. The gun has a good amount of stopping power, and its stability increases as you fire making it perfect for long ranged combat.

Of course, if you can’t get your hands on any of these weapons you should try to go for the highest damage you can with the highest stat rankings mentioned earlier in the post. Some good weapons drop in the raid which could fill the gaps in your armory until you land these bad boys.
