The Prison of Elders has added a new (sort of) boss you’ll need to beat when completing it on lvl 34 difficulty. Gulrot the Unclean is a pretty close match to Phogoth who you will be intimately familiar with if you’ve ever ran a Destiny strike. In fact, he actually shares pretty much all of the abilities and weaknesses as Phogoth including that extremely sensitive chest area that will knock him back when hit with a heavy weapon.

Gulrot’s Stomach

The main mechanic your team will need to be aware of during this fight is Gulrot’s stomach. The best way to be prepared is to watch out for the notification that will say his stomach is rumbling. When this happens you have a few seconds until Gulrot releases his bile onto your fireteam.

The bile itself wont hurt you directly, instead it will slow all of your movements and actions down a considerable amount leaving you very exposed to enemy fire. When you see the notification your best bet is to find cover immediately, and to stay behind it until the debuff wears off. It usually lasts about 10 seconds, at which point your speed will return to 100%.

Dealing with the Adds

Even if you find cover before the bile hits you, maneuverable enemies like the Wizard can swoop into range and blow you up while you are incapacitated. It is therefore an extremely good idea to take them out as soon as possible to eliminate the odds of this happening.

If you can take out the Wizard threat and get some cover between you and Gulrot, you should be in good shape. Titan bubbles are another helpful spot to hide, and will take care of the wizard problem at the same time.

Target the Weak Spot

Gulrot has the same weakness that all Ogres of his size seem to have, a very sensitive chest/ stomach area. Aim for the glowing spot on his chest to deal extra damage. If you’re good with a sniper rifle, a direct hit from a maxed out one will stagger him each time it’s hit.

The Gjallahorn Method

Of course if you’ve been blessed enough to receive the holy Gjallahorn and the members of your party have one as well this is a good fight to spam it on. If you’ve got a Titan with weapons of light the fight will be over even faster. Just keep the rockets flowing and pop a heavy ammo synthesis if you need to. You might even have him down before he gets a chance to puke on you!
