Guide to Fighter Feats

Feats 21-30

By Scathe and Ralsu

Revised by Nuitaran 11/07/06

A rating of 1 or 2 means the Feat is pretty much
useless to a fighter and one that you probably want to avoid. A rating
of 3 indicates that the Feat can be used with some careful planning if
the fighter build has room to fit it in. We reserve a rating of 4 only
for those Feats that are almost necessary picks for a particular type
of fighter
build. A rating of 5 designates the best of the fighters Feats and ones
players should seriously consider in any href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?meid=5#Builds">DDO build
involving fighters.

style="font-weight: bold;">21. Improved Trip

Official Text: "Using this attack, you may trip the target, rendering
it prone for a longer time. Some creatures may be immune to this
effect."

Prerequisite: Intelligence 13
Combat Expertise

Comments: Awesome! When this is used successfuly you knock a monster on
it's behind. It loses a great deal of its Armor Class, which makes it
very easy to hit and it cannot attack you in return. The cooldown is
also not bad at all--10 seconds. Great Feat if you took Combat
Expertise!

Nuitaran's Note: I took the information from this Feat from my own
experience since it does not appear in the DD Compendium on Turbine's
web page.

Official Text: "Increases the number of attacks when fighting with two

Prerequisite: Dexterity 17
Base Attack Bonus +6

Two Handed Fighting

Received by Ranger 6

Comments: If you’re going to be a Two Weapon fighter take this without
question. The added attacks will make your fighter do a lot of damage
rather quickly. Two Weapon Fighting is outrageously fast since Module
3, and can lead to a great DPS Fighter. Its high rating applies only to
Two Weapon Fighters as they are the only ones likely to meet the
prerequisites anyway.

Official Text: "Grants you a +2 bonus on your Will saves."

Comments: As a fighter this is one of your biggest weaknesses. Taking
this will improve your chances of being able to avoid mind spells. If
you neglected your WIS score, this may be a good Feat to grab to help
balance your fighter out a bit.

style="color: rgb(154, 185, 124);">Rating:
3

style="font-weight: bold;">25. Lightning Reflexes

Official Text: "Grants you a +2 bonus on your Reflex saves."

Comments: Now Reflex saves are not just for the trap monkey to avoid
traps. They also help absorb damage from damage spells that may be cast
on you. Making a successful reflex save against Flame Strike, for
example, cuts the damage taken by half.

3

Luck of the Heroes

Official Text: "Grants you a +1 bonus on all saves."

Comments: Luck of the Heroes is nice if you want to balance all saves
rather than focusing on one. If you have room for only one saving throw
Feat and want an even distribution, take this one. Iron Will or
Lightning Reflexes provide better choices for specific saves.

Mobility

Official Text: "Adds a +4 bonus to Armor Class while tumbling."

Prerequisite: Dodge

Comments: A fighter who builds in Tumble will definitely benefit.
Another great thing about this Feat is it leads to Spring Attack and
Whirlwind Attack.

Rating:
4

Negotiator

Official Text: "You have a knack for gauging and swaying attitudes. You
receive a +2 bonus on Diplomacy checks and Haggle checks."

Comments: No fighter should be using Diploamcy in battle. Haggle can be
nice when it comes to those repair bills, but overall this Feat is not
worth the slot.

Rating:
1
style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(51, 51, 255);"> style="color: rgb(154, 185, 124);"> style="font-weight: bold;">29.
Point Blank Shot

Official Text: "You gain +1 bonus on ranged attacks and damage within
30 feet."

Comments: If you’re going to make a ranged fighter, definitely get this
Feat. It leads to almost all of the other Archery Feats.

Rating:
3
style="vertical-align: top; background-color: rgb(219, 201, 125);"> style="font-weight: bold;">30.
Power Attack

Official Text: "While using Power Attack mode, you trade your attack
bonus for extra damage."

Prerequisite: Strength 13

Comments: My opinion is if you can't hit something, you aren't doing
damage. Using this in battle is a wasted attack because you are
unlikely to land your attack unless you roll high. The reason to pick
up Power Attack is because it leads to getting Cleave. It style="font-style: italic;">can be handy for Two Hander
swingers as the extra damage is significantly increased.
