Bonus Series Guide

In Star Wars: The Old Republic, bonus series are a way to extend the content on a planet, letting you return to a planet and get some extra rewards.

This article originally was published on SWTORHUB.com authored by Jeff Prime. It has been updated for SWTOR 3.0.

When playing SWTOR you'll finish a planet and believe you're done or perhaps you haven't finished and moved on to greener pastures. To help add more variety and extra content, you'll often get a call for help to come back to the planet and play through some new content. This not only helps you level up, but in SWTOR 3.0+, can sometines unlock Heroic missions which give you datacron decorations. There is a lot of nifty reasons to return to a planet and complete the heroic missions, but most of all it's a neat way to help you level, especially on the free-to-play mode where you might not be getting that much experience.

There is no penalty for not doing them, beyond having some content gated (daily quests on Belsavis for instance, for pre-DLC players or certain Heroics like on Alderaan). Often times the level in which you'll undertake these missions is much higher than the planet itself, once again showcasing that bonus series are a great way to skip past content you might not want to complete (giving you an alternative area to level in) or to help get you to that next level to do your next story mission.

Bonus missions differ depending on if you're Republic or Empire and are accessible by a quest giver that's in the first area you arrive in (either the spaceport or the planet surface). If you don't like a planet or don't want to do them, again, there is no penalty, but they offer an excellent way to finish up the story on a planet and provide some near rewards, including XP, gear, and commendations.

This list handles a walkthrough of the pre-DLC bonus series quests. For Makeb, Rishi, and Yavin, these planets feature daily quests instead.
