Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures is a
vast world with many areas to explore. As players continue to level up
they will need to acquire a more mobile means of transportation. At
level 40 you can obtain your first horse to aid in traversing the
vastness of Hyboria. These can be found at three different Stable
Masters throughout the world who offer a number of different mounts.

There are a couple of things you must do
before you can mount up and start riding your new mount around Hyboria.
The first thing you need to do is reach level 40. After that you will
need to purchase a basic riding manual from the Stable Master. Once you
have your riding manual click on it to use. This will add the new
innate ability of horse riding to your character.

There are two types of books for you to
purchase. The first is Basic Riding Training. This book is the basics
of riding and will teach you all that you need to know about the basic
principles of riding. In other words it will let you use a tier 1
mount. This book sells for 25 silver at the Stable Master merchants.

The second book is called Advanced
Riding Training. You can only use this book after you reach level 80
and have already trained in Basic Riding. This book will allow you to
use advanced mounts such as armored horses and he new Snow Mammoth.
Along with the advanced
riding you will also learn a few mounted attacks that will aid you in
mounted combat. These books sell for 50 gold at the Stable Master
merchants so start saving early.

of Hyboria

There are currently three kinds of
horses you can purchase each with their own advantages.

style="color: gold; font-family: Hyborian;">Standard
Horse

The Standard or Basic Horse is the first
mount you can purchase upon reaching level 40. These mounts sell for
75s and offer extra benefits to speed. You will need to purchase and
use the Basic Rider Training manual from one of the three Stable
masters.

style="color: gold;">Swift Horse

The Swift Horses become available once
you reach level 60 and are faster and drain less stamina than the
Standard Horse. These mounts cost 50 gold.

style="color: gold; font-family: Hyborian;">Armored
Horse

The Armored Horses become available at
level 60 and cost 50 gold. However you need to buy the Advanced Riding
Book from a Stable Master merchant. Unfortunately you can not use this
item until level 80 which creates a minor discrepancy. These mounts are
heavily armored and add a bonus to the riders hitpoints and knockback
resistance.

There are many different looks for the
mounts you can choose from, but trying to figure out which one is best
for you can become an expensive process if you are unfamiliar with what
each one looks like. To that end, we have assembled these screenshots
to aid you in deciding which mount look is best suited to your needs
and save you the coin from experimenting. You can't simply ride into
combat, you need to ride into combat and look good while lopping off
heads.

Mounts

If you preordered Age of Conan you may
have gotten one of the preorder mounts that was included with certain
preorders. Funcom recently added the Snow Mammoth to the live game and
this is the only non-preorder mount players can acquire without the
initial preorder codes. Siege Mounts, as the name implies, are
useful in Massive PvP sieges as they can help bring down enemy walls
and buildings. These mounts also possess certain
attacks that only they can use such as the Mammoth Sweep, which can
knockback a group of enemies. The mounts of this type are the War
Rhino, the Snow Mammoth, and the War Mammoth. All provide the same
bonus and their
difference is more aesthetic than anything else.

War
Rhino

The War Rhino is larger than a horse,
but smaller than a War Mammoth. These large creatures are ideal for
leading an assault on buildings in Massive PvP.

The War Mammoth is the biggest mount in

Massive PvP battles as one swing has the potential to send multiple

Snow Mammoth

The Snow Mammoth is a new siege mount and the only one currently
available to players without a preorder. These expensive siege mounts
sell for 100 gold and also require you to have used the Advanced Riding
Skills book. These new mounts come with the war paint colors of blue,
red, and purple.

While not everyone can have a preorder
Siege
Mount they can
acquire a Snow Mammoth and one of the many types of horses available.
Mounts are a needed
commodity in
Hyboria and provide one of the fastest and primary modes of
transportation. If you don't believe
me, try running around Hyboria for an hour on foot and then on horse.
You will be amazed at how useful that small speed enhancement can be.
