Edit: Updated on July 21st to reflect the pre-expansion patch changes.

--

The end of an expansion can be a rather awkward time. You still want to play World of Warcraft, but you aren't exactly sure what to do with yourself. Sure, we can choose to finish that raid, get that pet you've been searching for, or complete that quest line, but we find ourselves wondering if we are just wasting our time. Spinning our wheels on tasks that will matter little when Legion goes live.

As we all know, the launch of a new expansion means that everything could become irrelevant in the blink of an eye. For those who have been through the process, it can be rather disheartening. So what tasks are worthwhile? After scouring the internet and combing them with our own personal experiences, we have compiled a list of the tasks that won't leave you with that wasted time feeling once Legion hits. Enjoy!

Love your Garrison

You can't make gold here any more, but you can still love your garrison.   Remember any crates that you received before the pre-expansion patch will still have items that you can sell for gold!

Professions Make Perfect

If you haven't already done so, now is the time to level up those professions. While professions kind of fell to the wayside in WoD and many of us became slack with them, they are promised to be back and better than ever in Legion. If this promise holds true, professions could be extremely important in the next expansion and having them half leveled just won't do.

Combine this with the fact that the most profitable time for professions is often the very start of an expansion and leveling your professions becomes even more important. Don't wait. Get them leveled, make money where you can, and be ready for the new expansion so you can pull in even more profits way ahead of the game.

Go Alternative

The end of an expansion is the absolute perfect time to put some focus on getting your alts to maximum level. While many things become useless, your other characters will always retain their value. Not to mention that once Legion hits, the level cap will rise, making catching up even harder than it currently is.

Of course, each account will be given a level 100 boost, however, it can only be used on a single character. This means that those of us with tons of alts will be stuck doing things the old fashioned way or forking out a ton of cash to purchase more boosts. Assuming you are broke like I am, this is not an option. Instead, spend some time now while things are winding down to level those characters you have been putting off. Not only will all your characters be maximum level for Legion, but you will have probably earned some extra gold along the way.

Into the Jungle

While you are probably already doing it, every player should be spending a significant amount of time inside Tanaan Jungle. There is a ton of gold to be made here for very minimal work. Don't hesitate to complete quests, kill rares, do the bonus objectives, and pick up any treasures you find along the way.

While doing all these tasks you will not only be making gold, but also collecting a ton of Apexis Crystals. Use these to purchase Baleful gear and upgrade tokens from the Order of the Awakened representative to fill in any weak spots in your gear. While you will probably replace your gear very quickly in Legion, this is so simple to do and will give you an extra leg up when you start the journey through the next expansion.

Spring Cleaning

Are you like me and are a bit of a pack rat? If so, your bank and bags are probably loaded with things you have collected in the past and from this expansion. Now is the time to do a deep purge of all these items. With most reagents, potions, crafted items, and more becoming obsolete in Legion, now is the time to get these items off your hands while a profit can still be made. Purging some items will also free up some much needed space for the items you will acquire once Legion is released.

End of Expansion Don'ts

The tasks above seems to be pretty solidly in the realm of things you should be doing as this expansion wraps up. However, you may be wondering what about the stuff you shouldn't be focusing on. Here are some items that you absolutely should not set as a priority unless the urge really strikes you. Some items on this list may just surprise you:

  • Legendary Ring
  • Achievements
  • (Most) Quests
  • Reputations
  • WoD Flying

How are you preparing for Legion?
