Patch 6.1 is a patch filled with quality of life changes, many of them aimed directly at pet battles. Besides a variety of improvements, the patch also brought some new additions to the pet battle scene, including new pets, new items, and a brand new achievement! Find out more below!

Brand New Tamers

Players with a Level 3 Garrison now have a chance to have a new tamer their Garrison every day. The tamers in question are Erris the Collector for the Alliance and Kura Thunderhoof for the Horde. This tamer will offer up a daily quest; Critters of Draenor, which asks the player to defeat the tamer in a Pet Battle. Upon completion, players will receive various items including Traveler's Pet Supplies, which has the chance to contain one of three new pets unique to Patch 6.1: Young Talbulk, Bone Serpent, and Slithershock Elver.

Don't think defeating these tamers will be an easy task. It seems as if the tamers above have some super smart pets, as they appear to change their abilities from match to match. Not to mention they also appear to have more than the standard 3 abilities that pets typically have. Be on your toes!

Menagerie and Pet Dailies

Have you been struggling to unlock the Menagerie in your Garrison? Have you totally given up hope? It is time to give it another shot in Patch 6.1! The difficult of some of the battles has been reduced, this means that opening up this building is easier than ever before. Also, the daily quests pertaining to pet battles around Draenor have also been made easier. With that being said, the XP per battle has also been reduced, making this a win/lose situation.

Darkmoon Faire

A brand new racing event has been spotted at the Darkmoon Faire. This event allows players to race through the woods surrounding the Faire trying for the fastest time possible. Winning the race will award you toys, vanity items and a pet! Also, a new achievement; Big Rocketeer: Gold is now available and rewards a brand new pet. To complete this achievement players will need to complete the race mentioned above with the Rocketeer within 20 tolls. Players who complete the achievement will be the proud new owners of the Race MiniZep.

Fishing/Archaeology

New Archaeology missions are now available in your Garrison that will allow you to collect fragments and keystones. Dig Sites are almost totally optional! This will make it much easier to complete solves and collect the Archaeology related pets; Ancient Nest Guardian and Frostwolf Ghostpup.

In the world of Fishing, Lunkers are now easier than ever to catch. They are now able to be caught in pools and the chance to catch one increases with Fishing skill. This makes collecting Nat's Lucky Coins to purchase the Land Shark and the brand new Sea Calf pets a more simple task.

Ultimate Battle-Training Stone

A new quest, Unearthed Magic, has been added for Level 100 characters with Level 3 Garrisons. Picked up from Lio the Lioness (Alliance)/Serr'ah (Horde) in your Menagerie, the quest will send you in search of a strange stone that can be found near your Garrison's mine. Once you have found the stone, the quest will reward you with an Ultimate Battle-Training Stone.

This stone can be used to level 1 pet instantly from 1-25! This is a one time quest, however, it appears that it can be completed again on different characters. This stone can be used on the pet of your choice. Unsure of which pet to use your stone on? Consider what you ultimate pet battle goals are and choose based on that or simply choose a pet that you love.

Raiding with Leashes III

Finally, with Patch 6.1 has come a new battle pet achievement; Raiding with Leashes III: Drinkin' From the Sunwell. This achievement requires you to collect and learn pets from three raid instances; Black Temple, Mount Hyjal, and Sunwell. Thankfully, these instances are a piece of cake at level 100 and you should be able to easily solo them. You may even walk past much of the trash if you are very careful!

The pets needed for this achievement include:
