Patch 6.1 will be released on February 24^th and with it is coming a plethora of changes, updates, and new features. One of new features players will see is a brand new collection tab for their Heirloom items. This feature has been a long time coming and, unlike many other added features in the patch, is actually one that players have been requesting for some time.

Besides the fancy new collections tab, Heirlooms will see some other changes that will improve their usefulness in game. Read on to learn everything you need to know about the changes to Heirloom items in Patch 6.1 before it hits live servers!

Heirloom Collection Tab

When Patch 6.1 goes live, players will have one more collections tab available to them. This tab will exclusively hold any Heirloom items that you have collected on any character on your account. This collections tab can be found along side your toy, mount, and pet collections. For speedy access, hit Shift+P.

Upon first checking out this new feature, you may be a bit confused when you notice that your Heirloom items are still appearing in your bag. Shouldn't they have magically vanished? Even if you click on them, they just get transferred onto your character and not into this fancy new collection tab! What is the point of this thing!?

The answer here is that while Heirloom items will always be stored in your collections tab, they can also remain in your bags (or on your character). This is to ensure that any Heirlooms you have enchanted will remain that way if you want them to. Don't have enchanted Heirlooms or want the extra space? Delete the Heirloom items and recreate them from the Heirloom Collections tab at any time by right clicking the Heirloom you wish to create.

Please note, Heirlooms created from the Collections tab are free of any enchants or modifications. Don't see an Heirloom item you know you own? Heirloom items in the mail will not appear until they are put into your bags. Also, you must log into every character on your account to add those Heirlooms to the collection.

Heirloom Tier System

Besides having a neat new place to store your Heirlooms for all time, Heirlooms will now also be ranked into a tier system. This system will let you know at a glance what the maximum level the item can possibly scale up to. Heirlooms will now fall into one of three groups: 1-60, 61-90, and 91-100. Heirloom items you currently own will automatically be placed into the appropriate group, with the maximum upgrade level updated to fit these new groupings. This means that if you had an item that maxed out at level 85, it will now max out at level 90.

Purchasing Heirlooms

Adding extra ease to Heirloom items, players will now be able to purchase base level Heirlooms at vendors found inside the Undercity and Ironforge for gold. Upgrade tokens may also be purchased from these same vendors. Don't have a lot of gold? Don't worry, there are plenty of other ways being added for players to purchase Heirloom items including:

• Darkmoon Faire Tickets
• Argent Tournament Champion's Seals
• World Event Currency (e.g., Love is in the Air, Lunar Festival, and Noblegarden.)

Upgrading Heirlooms

Heirlooms can be upgraded to level 90 (Ancient Heirloom Armor Casing and Ancient Heirloom Scabbard) and level 100 (Timeworn Heirloom Scabbard and Timeworn Heirloom Armor Casing). The items needed to upgrade your Heirlooms can be purchased in many ways:

Quests – Mystery Notebook which unlocks a quest series Numismatics and Completionism

Darkmoon Faire – Armor upgrades are purchasable for 100 tickets, while weapon upgrades cost 120 tickets. No level 100 upgrades currently available.

Argent Tournament – Armor upgrades for 55 Seals, weapon upgrades for 65 Seals. No level 100 upgrades currently available.

World Events – Lunar Festival currently offers level 90 armor upgrades for 40 coins and level 100 armor upgrades for 75 coins.

Gold - Level 90 armor upgrades cost 1,000 gold and level 90 weapon upgrades cost 1,200. Level 100 armor and weapon upgrades will cost you 2,000 and 5,000 respectively.

Before you can apply an upgrade to your Heirloom, you must have it at Upgrade Level 1.

Heirloom Mount

Finally, introducing the Heirloom mount. Probably one of the more exciting developments when it comes to Heirloom items. This mount can be obtained by completing the brand new Heirloom Hoarder achievement. This achievement requires you to have collected at least 35 Heirloom items across the various characters on your account.

Once this achievement is complete, players will get the Chauffeured Chopper mount. This mount can be used by every character, including brand new level 1 characters. You read right, level 1 characters will be able to ride on this mount. However, since we can't trust level 1 characters to drive, they will need to sit in the side car. Driver Koak Hoburn (Horde) or Franklin Martin (Alliance) will man the chopper, taking these characters anywhere they need to go.

Besides the Heirloom Hoarder achievement, there are several other Heirloom related achievements popping up in this patch:

• Where's the Mailbox? - Collect one heirloom.
• Alt-ernative Lifestyle – Collect five heirlooms.
• Ready for Powerleveling – Collect fifteen heirlooms.
