Warlords of Draenor Patch 6.2 is coming and it more than a few new pieces of content with it. One of the biggest content pieces players will see is the addition of the Garrison Shipyard. This new Garrison building will allow players to take part in naval missions and grant them access to the Tanaan Jungle. Keep reading for a preview of the Shipyard.

Opening the Shipyard

Before you can get into the thick of Naval Missions you will first need to open up your shipyard. To do that you will embark on a series of relatively easy quests:

Garrison Campaign: War Council

Pops as soon as player logs in. Speak with Vol'jin/King Varian Wrynn inside the Town Hall of your Garrison.

We Need a Shipwright

Go to Iron Docks and speak with Sammy Fivefingers/Exarch Naielle. Free flight from Garrison Flight Master

Bonus Objective: Disrupt the Iron Horde Evacuation

Derailment

Collect three Explosive Charges and a Detonator.

The Train Gang

Plant Explosives and blow open train to free Roark.

Hook, Line, and...Sink Him!

Use a Blackrock Grapple to reach Knar's bunker. Slay him to obtain Roark's Shipyard Blueprints.

Nothing Remains

Report back to Vol'jin/Kin Varian Wrynn inside your Garrison Town Hall.

All Hands on Deck

Gather 150 Garrison Resources to construct your Level 1 Shipyard. Please note, this amount is subject to change.

The Shipyard

After the first quest line, you will have completed your shipyard. However, your work is far from done. At this point another quest line will open that will require you to build your first ship and storm the shores of Tanaan Jungle. The quest line is as follows:

  • Let's Get to Work
  • Let's Build a Ship!
  • Ship Shape
  • The Invasion of Tanaan
  • Obstacle Course
  • In, Through, and Beyond!
  • The Assault Base

Ships

Ships are much like Followers. They can be sent on Naval Missions, be upgraded, and obtain new abilties and traits. Unlike Followers, ships can be destroyed. There is a 50% chance your ship will be destroyed. However, they can easily be rebuilt and replaced for just a small fee.

Building and Upgrading Ships

Building Ships at your shipyard will cost you Garrison Resources (amount to be determined). Building of ships is quite fast, completing in a minute. Initially, players can build five ships with a Level 1 Shipyard.

Ship Types

There are several type of ships you can own:

  • Troop Transport
  • Dreadnaught
  • Submarine
  • Carrier
  • Destroyer

Players can choose to add different equipment to their ships such as Shark Tanks, Navigational Charts, and Stabilizer Fans. This adds new abilities and usefulness to the ship.

Ship Abilities and Traits

Like Followers, all your ships will come with a varity of abilities, except they are naval themed. Abilities come in three types: Types, Crew, and Equipment. Type abilities are similiar to Follower abilities, Crew abiltiies are similar to Follower traits, and Equipment allows you to choose to add more counters or traits to your ship. Crew and Type slots are permanent, while the two Equipment slots can be chosen by the player.

Ships gain more abilities and/or traits as you level them up. Potential abilities and traits for your ships include:

  • Trained Shark Tank
  • True Iron Rudder
  • Boarding Party

  • Food Storage Bay
  • Unsinkable
  • Automated Sky Scanner
  • Undead Crew
  • Human Crew
  • Salty Crew

Threats

All the abilities and traits mentioned above are designed to counter the following threats:

  • Icy Water
  • Chaotic Whirlpools
  • Dense Fog
  • Evasive
  • Swift
  • First Strike
  • Stormy Weather
  • Flying Units
  • Minelayer
  • Ground Objective
  • Artillery Cannons
  • Iron Clad
  • Submerged

Naval Missions

Naval Missions are much like follower missions that you complete in your Town Hall. The only difference is that you will be using ships instead of Followers. Ships can be send on Naval Missions via your Naval Table. Click on one of the threats on the Naval Map to view more details.

PTR Shipyard

The Shipyard is still an unfinished product on the PTR. There is much that is not available at this time and thus we have little to no information on it. Please keep checking back as the PTR progresses for more and updated information on the Garrison Shipyard.
