Uncle Lester may live in a van down by the river, but that doesnt mean he isnt a gamer at heart. Always on the lookout for an unsecured Wi-Fi connection to use before being runoff, his quest for gamer glory continues!
Hello and welcome to the fourth edition of Gaming with Uncle Lester! Im your host of todays show, Uncle Lester. After driving around town for a week looking for a spot I could kick off my boots, hang up my dirty socks, and enjoy some harassment free gaming time with a good Wi-Fi connection, I thought Id finally hit the jackpot with my Dennys hookup. Well last night, they decided they wanted to take it to the next level and I was perfectly cool with that until I realized they werent talking about leveling our characters in DC Universe Online. So! Im on the road again, broadcasting today from a truck stop off I-95.
If theres one thing Ive noticed with geeks and gamers alike during the course of my travels, its that they always have a reason to give you crap about the things you like and they dont. This is especially true any time superheroes get mentioned. What makes it even more bizarre than other geek arguments is the fact that it seems to nearly come to blows almost every time.
Superman sucks. Face it. Why? Because I like Psylocke.
What?! As the great Bill Engvall once said when it comes to logic, not even Evel Knievel could make that jump.
Seriously. When the hell did it become ok to put the likes of others down just because you dont agree with their choice? The land of geeks, nerds, and gamers started as a place of welcome and shared interests. Even if you werent a big fan of the X-Men, you could appreciate the love someone else had for them.
Its high time we drag our fellow outcasts back from the brink of destruction and get back to our inclusive ways. Being geek may be chic now, but that day may pass and when it does, ol Uncle Lester here is going to need somewhere to stay especially if you have happen to have an extra room and cable TV. And Wi-Fi.
Thats it for todays show but tune in tomorrow for more from your two-stepping tumbleweed of the gaming world, Uncle Lester! Be sure to follow me on Twitter at @UncleLesterWIFI too or send me an email with your gamer topic at [email protected]!
