    MMORPG.com has posted a RYL: Path of the Emperor Interview featuring Mark Politi and discussing the suspension of the $1,000,000 tournament. Richard Simmons informed us that he did not cheat in the RYL tournament and that the following statement was 100% true:

  • IGN Interviews Guild Wars Composer

    Does "Sorrow's Furnace" have a loose fan belt?

    Nope! Give Jeremy Soule- Arena.net's Composer for Guild Wars- some credit, that's the new music. If you're a fan of that big angry Wagnerian symphonic sound that makes besting "feeble muskrats" feel like fighting the demon overlord for the souls of mankind, this interview might be of interest to you!

    Soule also talks of DirectPlay, a fee-based service that allows game music composers to deliver more music to games and expansions gone gold.

    IGN: Since you also worked on the music for the initial Guild Wars game, how did you approach this project? How did you keep true to the original Guild Wars music while still creating your own unique sound for this update?

    Jeremy Soule: Guild Wars is a purely symphonic experience. I rely heavily on past composers such as Wagner and Beethoven. For this expansion, I made the "colors" darker, but kept the framework of Guild Wars in place. The main theme makes an appearance, and there are some textural similarities to Guild Wars. Fans of my work know that I favor big sounds; this orchestra is even bigger than what we used for the original Guild Wars. In virtual terms, we would need over 400 players to duplicate our sound in an acoustic reality.

    Next Generation has posted an Auto Assault interview featuring Ryan Seabury. A driver went into a fit of road rage after we cut him off, slammed on the brakes and flipped on our cell phone. His ranting went somthing like this:

    " NCSoft is trying to drag the kicking and screaming MMOG genre, away from its fantasy comfort zone into the mainstream. Auto Assault, developed by NetDevil, is a different kind of persistent online world. Design director Ryan Seabury told us the plan… "

  • Horizons "Update" Q&A at RPG Vault

    Is "Horizons" the industry's best kept secret?
    The folks at Tulga Games have been hard at work on Horizons for the last two years. David Bowman sits down with RPG Vault to discuss why Horizons got off to a bit of a rought start, the many changes Tulga has implemented since launch, the game events that make Horizons different, and a glimpse at where the dev team is taking the game in the future.

    Jonric: In what ways and to what extent have you addressed these problems and issues between then [launch] and now?

    David Bowman: We are quickly approaching the end of the second year since launch. In that time, we've doubled the content available in the game and completed many new content systems. Our database has been streamlined, and the hardware reconfigured. We've created a completely new Dragon tutorial, and are in the process of creating a new one for the other races. The client has been optimized repeatedly to improve performance on a wide variety of machines. The combat systems have been completely replaced, and now perform well. I won't claim that we've fixed everything, but we've made great improvements, and will continue to work on all remaining issues.

    NP Cube talks about its longtime fantasy MMO Dark and Light; most notably the challenges associated with building an engine from scratch, and how DnL is doing with its production timeline. Any one else get the feeling things are being rushed a bit?

    Gamecloud - What is the current status of the game's progress and when will it be released?

    NP Cube - Development is nearing an end as we prepare for our November release. In preparation, our debuggin session has already begun to ensure the game is ready for distribution this fall.
