  • A Look at Lord of the Rings Public Stress Test

Gameworld Network has posted a preview of The Lord of the Rings Online based on what they were able to learn in the recent public stress test.

Before being whisked out of the noob area and into contact with other players, I was treated to an in-game cinematic moment. That means I could still move around -- but not fight -- while NPCs did things to carry the story along. For example, while playing a Dwarf I witnessed a troll attack Gimli, and was then tasked with going to his aid.

  • Comic Con Interview with Jeff Anderson

MMORPG.com has posted this interview today with the CEO of Turbine.

When I brought up the word that most people shy away from...expansions, Jeff was excited to talk about what Turbine is planning. He said there are tons of opportunities for expansions. Words like Moria and Helms Deep were mentioned as ideas for upcoming areas and events for players to take part in. The biggest thing that Turbine is aiming for in the expansions is to bring more of the story to the players and allow them a more important part within them.

  • Ask Turbine #3: Interview with Jeffrey Steefel

WarCry has posted the thrid in a series of Q & A's with the makers of Lord of the Rings Online.

Mattlow: Where will the best loot in the game come from? Crafters or from monsters.

Jeffrey Steefel: We want players to have lots of opportunities to get the fat loot. So, obviously, the mastery level, which is the highest tier of crafting, will come up with some of that loot that you're going to be able to buy at auction if the seller is nice or greedy enough. Also, in our raids and in the high-end stepped instances - where you're going to encounter some of the bigger bosses - and also in some areas of the Ettenmoors, which are the monster play areas, you're going to encounter some pretty hefty loot.

  • Google maps and Gandalf? Developers put the "fun" in functionality for fans

Games Radar has taken a look at the upcoming Lord of the Rings Online. This preview includes several new screenshots as well.

MMO enthusiasts will appreciate the way LOTR Online plans to iron out some serious kinks that plague the genre. Whether its setting up a voice chat server for your guild, posting a comment on a forum about a difficult quest, or creating a website for your character, MMO players have gone through great lengths to develop and participate in the strong online communities that grow around their game of choice – and its refreshing to see how developer, Turbine is taking a proactive approach to cultivating these communities.

“When you’re in the game,” Jeff said, “and you reach level 10, you then will have the ability to create your monster characters. You do that by going to different places in the world and using the ‘Fell Scrying Pool’. When you use this, you can see beyond where you are to other places in the world, and you can actually go there and into the body of a monster.”

  • Lord of the Rings Online Beta Impressions

IGN.com updated their site recently with a preview of Lord of the Rings Online. Keep reading to find their beta impressions.

The explanation is quite simple. LOTR lore is infinitely more accessible to people who haven't read the biographies of the founders at Blizzard. There's no doubt that Blizzard's Warcraft series has built up an epic, detailed and loveable back-story - but it's only known by players of former Warcraft games.

  • Jeff Anderson, the President and CEO of Turbine Inc Shares His Thoughts

MMORPG.com posted an interview with the CEO of Turbine yesterday that talks about the upcoming Lord of the Rings Online.

It’s hard to even discuss The Lord of the Rings without bringing up the recent film trilogy from Peter Jackson. That film re-introduced a generation of fans to Tolkein’s world, and was well renowned for having created visuals that were very close to what Tolkien described. This, of course, led me to ask whether LOTRO was based on the books, or the movies and whether or not there was a difference.

Keep reading to find the answer to this and much more.
