TOWNS AND QUEST HUBS

These are the towns, camps and other assorted places where
players can pick up quests. Level range describes the optimum level
range for XP gain. Important NPCs are those who bestow quest chains or
are crucial to the epic storyline, with position coordinates listed if
located outside the main hub. Description is a broad guideline of what
to expect from each quest hub without going into too specific of detail.

LEHMA-KOTI

Level Range: 38 - 42

Important NPCs: Pirkka, Santuu,
Aarnikka, Chief Tuokki

Town Services:

  • Provisioner
  • Healer
  • Campsite

Description: An Earth-kin camp
tucked away in the
relative safety of Ram Duath, sheltered from the forces of Angmar and
removed from the societies of the Free People. The Earth-kin lead their
simple lives, herding aurochs, making weird tents, wearing giant horns
and almost no other clothing, grooving to the sound of the funky
drummer and scratching their butts a lot. With the orcs and Angmarim
pressing closer from the north and east, they are growing concerned for
the safety of their herd.

  • Skirmish Camp

Description: A hillmen settlement
that has not
succumbed to the influence of Carn Dum. The hillmen of Angmar lead a
harsh life, made worse by the corrupting influence of the Witch-King
and his minions, but the people of Aughaire do the best they can. Do
yourself a favor and come here at level 38 to start the chain of quests
that reward you with Fem gear. The quests generally involve learning
the ways of the hillmen and earning the trust of the people by killing
level 42 mobs, and will be tough at level 38, but the Fem armor set
will last a good long while. It's the first really good armor set you
can earn through regular questing, and you will likely wear it well
into the high-40s. The Buth Sankhas and Buth Luikh rewards are also
good, and can be purchased after completing the quests from the
relevant vendor if you accidentally choose the wrong reward. Corunir,
down by the crafting area, is the man to talk to for Volume 1 Book 6,
which allows you to cross the Rammas Deluon line and proceed into East
Angmar, a necessity for collecting some level 45 class quest items.

Town Services

Description: This camp is built

dealing with the pesky varmints that live among the hotsprings. The
suphur stink they can live with; it's the buzzing of the giant flies
that's driving them mad.

Description: A dwarf fortress

the mountains south of Eastern Malenhad, where a group of rangers
stopped off on their journey south. The dwarves are fed up with staying
hidden in the mountains and seek retribution against the more
villainous beings that keep them from venturing out. They are also
concerned with protecting their mines and finding new places to dig.

  • Provisioner
  • Reputation Vendor
  • Reputation Barterers

  • Stable-master (Gabilshathur, Aughaire, Esteldin, Rivendell,
    Suri-kyla)

Description: The hidden base for
the Council of the
North, built high up in the black-rock mountainside in Himbar, is an
important and oft-visited site for Volume 1 epic books. Getting here
can be annoying because it's very out-of-the-way, and the only horse
routes here are swift-travel routes that require Friend standing with
the Council of the North. You will want to earn that standing as soon
as possible - do lots of rep-reward quests from here and collect loads
of bone amulets from the wights in Imlad Balchorth. Some of the NPCs
here are "phased," available at some times and not at others depending
on your progression in the epic books. There's a big water-filled hole
in the middle of the cave, and anglers can catch some interesting fish
here. Outside the cave, standing down near the stable-master, are 3
battle-instance quest-givers. These level 50 battle-instances are the
precursor to skirmishes, but they do not scale or reward skirmish
marks. They must be done in order, from left to right (Faelbenn's quest
does not unlock until Firingal is satisfied, and Tordoron requires both
Firingal's and Faelbenn's quests to be completed before he will
unlock). It is rare to find anyone doing them these days, which is a
shame because they are (or were, at level 50) interesting, challenging
and repeatable.

Town Services

Description: A hilltop dwarf camp
overlooking Imlad
Balchorth and Nan Gurth. This is where you wind up when you are

growing number of wights and fell spirits in Imlad Balchorth and seek
to interfere with the plans of the Angmarim there.

TARMUNN SURSA

Level Range: 49 - 50

Important NPCs: Gwathryn,
Rhunelleth, Ea, Tani, Esme, Glyn, Odbjorn

Town Services

  • Healer
  • Provisioner
  • Milestone
  • Campsite
  • Mustering Horn

Description: A tiny bedroom
community of Carn Dum,
populated by sympathetic and rebellious hillmen and some dwarves.
Quests out of here take the player to Urugarth and Carn Dum. This camp
is kind of a relic - you no longer need to physically travel to Carn
Dum to join the instance, and the few quests available here are on a
level that overlaps with other areas (Eregion, Upper Moria), so there
is really little reason to come here beyond the epic books.

Level Range: 50 - 55

Important NPCs: Iorelen,
Galasebdir, Jonsi

Town Services: Class-specific
barterers, Consumable Trader, Odds & Ends Trader, Campsite,
Summoning Horn

Description: A few quests for the
Rift of Nurz
Ghashu can be picked up here, but this camp is now something of a
relic. Before the introduction of radiance gear and Legendary Items,
Rift gear was among the best in the game. It's certainly still very
good for level 50 characters and looks way badass, but is now far
outmatched by all other late-game armor sets. Outdated or not, if
you're going to run the Rift, make sure to visit this camp before and
after.

Level Range: 46 - 50

Important NPCs: Enan, Una,
Raghbaid, Artagan

Town Services: n/a

Description: A quest from
Fail-A-Khro sends you
looking for a Hillman hiding in the town of Donnvail, and following
that chain leads you to an open courtyard in the middle with a handful
of quests for the area. The quest givers are in the northwest corner of
the big open area, and they seek the destruction of their oppressors a
couple streets over.

MISCELLANEOUS

Level Range: 50+

Important NPCs:  Eimyr,
other giants (Norbar, inside the Rift)

Town Services: Barterers at the
Eldgang camp

Description: The Eldgang is a
second reputation
faction for Angmar, and consists entirely of a handful of fire-giants
inside the Rift of Nurz Ghashu. They have a few quests for killing the
mobs within the Rift, and will barter chunks of ore and stone for
potions and such. It is not necessary to gain standing with this
faction for the World Renown deed, and the only way to gain standing is
to run the Rift over and over. Eimyr bestows the quest "An Ancient
Evil," the quest to killl Thaurlach, which is needed for the Saviour of
Eriador meta-deed.
