Level range indicates optimum level range to gain XP from
kills - the median level range of the dominant mobs, plus/minus 2
levels. Resources indicates crafting materials available from nodes and
from hide-bearing creatures in the area - humanoid mobs may drop other
types of items. Mobs indicates the dominant creature types that can be
found in the area, with links to their relevant slayer deeds where
appropriate. Landmarks include named points of interest and deed
locations, with links to relevant deeds.

  • Metsasta-sija (1.8N, 61.0W)
  • Korkea-jarvi (2.9N, 58.9W)

  • Hammastus-pesa (4.1N, 59.9W)
  • Ja-reitti (8.0N, 66.4W)
  • Cirith Rhiw (3.1S, 63.8W)

Description: Taur Orthon is the
tropical paradise of Forochel, with snow-dusted pines and water that
doesn't murder swimmers. The small lake in the center of the area is
unfrozen in the middle and only has thick ice along the shore. Farther
north, you begin to see the real "meat" of Forochel as you make
your way through the great crack in the glacier covering Ja-kuru. Look
for steam vents inside the crevasse - standing on these vents for a few
seconds will give you a 1-hour buff that mitigates cold-based damage,
which you will appreciate when fighting frost-worms and sabre-tooths.

Be
warned: there is a dark fog effect inside the crevasse at Ja-kuru that
has a tendency to
stick around after you leave the rift. The only way to fix it is to
ride back to the southern end, or re-log once you've made it through to
a safe spot.

amidst the snow-covered rocky mounds and packed-snow sheets, and a few
evergreens grow in the sheltered areas out of the chill winds.

The Ironspan is one of the few stone structures in Forochel, built long
ago by dwarven miners seeking ores and gems in the northern mountains,
but taken over by the Witch-King of Angmar, and now home to a host of
Angmarim invaders.

Description: The southwest corner
of the bay, and
home to an outlaw band of Dourhand dwarves who have taken refuge in the
Icereave Mines near the Dwarf stronghold, Zigilgund. Just south of
Zigilgund is a mammoth-hunting area, with giant skulls and tusks
sticking up out of the snow, and to the north of the stronghold is a
hot spring infested by worms and a large Gauredain camp. If you run
into a blinding white-out blizzard in this area, scout around for the
mammoth-riding Gauradan, Torahammas, who will be surrounded by
Gauredain
and requires a group to take down.

Description: A broad expanse of

north-western edge of the bay. Brave explorers will find the ruins of
Arvedui's broken ship still lodged in the ice at the water's edge. Look
for more steam vents in the crevasse claimed by the ice-giants - they
will come in handy should you decide to pick a fight there.
