from hide-bearing creatures in the area - humanoid mobs may drop other
types of items. Mobs indicates the dominant creature types that can be
found in the area, with links to their relevant slayer deeds where
appropriate. Landmarks include named points of interest and deed
locations, with links to relevant deeds.

  • Gladdalf (25.6S, 16.8W)
  • the Stone-Trolls' Glade (31.3S, 18.2W)

Description: The Northwest corner
of the Trollshaws, studded with ruins overtaken by trolls and pocked
with unmarked caves. Many of the mobs here are elites. The trolls in
the more southerly regions are the regular big fat ones with giant
clubs and such. The trolls around Gladdalf are the skinny, creepy
wood-troll variety. The Stone-trolls' Glade sits at the boundary
between North Trollshaws and Nan Tornaeth, and is a grim reminder of
Bilbo Baggins' adventures with Thorin Oakenshield and his band of
dwarves. Torogrod and Thingroth are two of the three caves the player
must visit for Volume 1 Book 4 - Torogrod is up a hill and fairly easy
to find; Thingroth is south and east of Throniel's camp at the end of a
valley. Laenan caves, in the north corner of Gladdalf, is attached to
Volume 3 Book 1, but is open to players who have not reached that part
of the epic story - but be careful of the place because the orcs inside
are level 64 - 65. There is a Mysterious Relic all the way in the back
of Laenan caves - examine it, then the door behind it, and then talk to
Elrond in Rivendell to complete the deed.

Description: Gloomy canyons lined
with angry wildlife and ruined hilltop fortresses teeming with undead
are the signatures of Nan Tornaeth. Most of the landmarks are arranged
in a ring around the word "Tornaeth" on the map, but reaching them may
involve a lot of backtracking and looking for upward or downward paths.
Crawlers will spawn in the ruins at night, but in the daytime it's only
rats. Ost Chall, deep in the heart of a complex of ruins in the
northernmost part of Nan Tornaeth, has a strange door at the bottom...

Trolls spawn in the open areas at night, but go into hiding while the
sun is up lest they be turned to stone. Thorenhad, a small settlement
governed by the sons of Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir, is the largest hub
of activity in the Trollshaws outside of Rivendell. Nurath is
the third unmarked troll cave for Volume I Book 4 Chapter 5.

Description: Encompassing the
southern end of the Buinen River gorge, and the mountains and
tributaries that feed into it, Tal Bruinen is a pretty big area. Echad
Candelleth, perched high atop a hill overlooking the river below, is
the sole spot of civilization. Eryn Singor, in the northwest part of
this area, is higher-level than the rest of it, with level 49 - 50
wood-trolls and bog-lurkers. Torech Ullug is not marked on the map, but
is part of the Wilds of Tal Bruinen deed - it is far to the south, past
a fork in the river, where a group of worms have made egg nests.
