Updated: Turbine Temporarily Delay’s LOTRO’s Helm’s Deep Launch

Updated Mon, Nov 18, 2013 by Martuk

Update: Turbine has officially postponed the Helm’s Deep expansion launch until Wednesday, November 20th, 2013. The decision was made to ensure a smooth expansion launch following issues from the loss of power at Turbine’s data center over the weekend.

As compensation, Turbine will be extending its 100% XP Bounder’s Bounty event as well as extending pre-order offers until the expansion’s launch on November 20th.

All LOTRO Game Worlds and Websites are now available. Thank you for your patience while we worked to resolve issues that resulted from a power outage at our data center. In order to provide the best possible experience for players, we will be delaying the release of Helm’s Deep until Wednesday November 20th.

As a result, we will be extending our Helm’s Deep pre-purchase offers as well as the 100% XP boost and Bounder’s Bounty events until the 20th as well.

Original Story: Turbine’s datacenter suffered a power outage over the weekend, leaving Dungeons & Dragons Online, Asheron’s Call, and The Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) players unable to login. The outage has since been resolved and all games have returned to service.

LOTRO also experienced some additional login problems following the outage. Those issues were fixed as this article was being written. But as a result of the problems, Turbine decided to temporarily delay today’s planned deployment of the Helm’s Deep expansion.

"At this time all LOTRO game worlds are now available, " Turbine wrote on Facebook. "We thank you for your patience! The Helm's Deep launch remains temporarily delayed, and we will keep you updated."

There's currently no ETA on the release of the Helm's Deep expansion so stay tuned and we'll update you when we have more.
