Earlier this month Mass Effect Executive Producer Casey Hudson returned to his Twitter page after a lengthy absence following the massive backlash over the Mass Effect 3 ending. Hudson sought feedback on what fans would like to see in Mass Effect 4. This week Hudson returned with a more direct focus, asking fans if the next title should be a prequel to the Mass Effect trilogy or if it should take place in a post-Shepard era, exploring the aftermath of the colorful climax of Mass Effect 3.
Parsing through your thoughts on the next #ME game. Would you be more interested in a game that takes place before the trilogy, or after?

The reaction to Hudson's inquiry has been a bit mixed from the community on both Twitter and the official Mass Effect 3 forums. There are certainly a lot of great options to explore in the past, and going into a post-Shepard era would require BioWare to either form up a story that could branch off of the possible endings to Mass Effect 3 or actually canonizing one of those, which BioWare has always been against.
What are your thoughts? Should the next Mass Effect press forward and explore the outcome of the trilogys aftermath or go back in time to learn more about the past of the games universe? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
