Although Peter Dinklage's voice acting was a source of controversy in Destiny, many were still shocked to hear that the actor had been replaced by video game veteran voice actor Nolan North in the role as the ghost. In an interview with Gameinformer, Bungie explained that the decision wasn't at all due to poor performance on Dinklage's end, but rather an issue with scheduling, particularly that of availablility. Executive Producer Mark Noseworthy explained:

"It's more on the nonsense side of things," Noseworthy responded. "Dinklage was awesome to work with but we needed to work with someone who is more available. Nolan is a pro, this is his thing.

"You can just call him up and say 'hey, next week we're doing this internal play test and it would be great to get some Ghost dialogue in there'. And he's available."

Availability will apparently be even more important in Destiny's future as Bungie has stated that they will be ramping up the role of the Ghost to help with storytelling in future expansions. The Taken King expansion comes out on September 15th.
