Cryptic Studios has had quite a busy week following the announcement that Chinese-based developer Perfect World would be acquiring them from Atari. But that little bit of news hasn't slowed down the Champions Online (CO) developers. This week the crew announced the launch of its first new CO comic series, Aftershock. The first issue titled Issue 1: Dead Air, is added in-game content similar to the Star Trek Online "Weekly Episode" content. Issue 1 is available in-game now and provides players with the first part of the new storyline, new missions, item drops and rewards.

Each Comic Series will be comprised of six weekly issues that players can take on starting at level 11. Players can continue to play any issues once they debut, but they'll need to complete previous issues before taking on the later content.

If you've been waiting patiently for CO to get to 40k "Likes" on Facebook to see if you might be the lucky winner of a new Alienware Laptop your wait is over. The winner of the 40k prize has been announced with "Sixofspadesx". All that's needed now is for the game to make it to 50k "Likes" for the next winner.

Lastly, if you plan to go crime fighting in Millennium City this weekend, be sure to join GMTiyshen this Saturday at 9:00am PST and 1:00pm PST for another Resistance GM event. And if you want to put an interesting twist on things, do it as a vampire with CO's new vampire costumes and powers now in the C-Store.
