This study is a doctoral research project undertaken by Lisa Galarneau, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Screen and Media Studies at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. The study is looking specifically at social behavior related to online games with an emphasis on City of Heroes/City of Villains. In particular, the study is exploring how players achieve mastery of the game(s) through their interactions with one another and how the game environment is affected by player contributions. At the end of the survey, you will have the option of enrolling in further phases of research. The full study involves a number of phases over a period of a year, including in-game observation, the survey, and follow-up interviews.
