Destiny's Taken King has reached the number one spot on the UK games sales charts and broken a Playstation record in the process. The expansion passed Metal Gear and the latest Forza title to claim the space, although it sold just 16% of the total copies of Destiny that were sold.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg had this to say about the release.

Destiny: The Taken King is officially the most downloaded game on day-one in PlayStation history and set a new benchmark for both total Destiny players and peak online concurrency on day-one, so it’s safe to say the Destiny franchise continues to gain momentum.

The Playstation 4 was the biggest market for Destiny, followed up by the Xbox One, the 360 and then the Playstation 3 crowd which only represented a handful of downloads. Sales are expected to continue, as many players were waiting for the raid to be added this Friday.
